Fairly crazy, psychiatrists have diagnosed me with two kinds of depression (Major Depression, Recurent and Dysthymic Disorder). I have been treated since 1983, I have never admitted to a hospital for mental illness. I have suicidal thoughts that come and go, but I just kind of put them in the back of my mind.
I have good days and bad days. I just got on a new medication (Cymbalta) and I am feeling better than I have in years.
I function pretty well for the most part, I have a full time job with a lot of responsibility. I also work in mental health and I'm in charge of the health information department (medical records), I have a degree in that.
My boss was giving me a lot of trouble a few years ago, I started having panic attacks as a result. I filed a complaint against her and got a letter from my psychiatrist that they filed in HR. She is still my boss and she doesn't mess with me like that anymore. (Wouldn't it be embarrassing for a mental health agency to discriminate against the mentally ill?)
I wear my mental illness with pride. My user name "Majnun" is an Urdu/Arabic word for "crazy."
I am also a part time professional musician who was never very successful. I still do that for enjoyment, but I depend on my "real job" for a paycheck. I have been married for 15 years. Yahoo Answers is giving me an outlet to satisfy some of my "creative urges."
Depression and Bipolar Disorder run in my family, my brother has Bipolar. Sometimes I wonder if I'm going to be diagnosed with Bipolar someday. I have some "loopy" times where I act rather silly, but so far it hasn't been serious enough to cause any problems. Two of my relatives committed suicide, I have some cousins who are either depressed or bipolar.

1. I'm a Nihilist.
2. I'm talking Zoloft, Depakote, and many of it's friends. No more than five.
3. I personally know what it feels like to be in a Mental Hospital, and no, I'm not a medical student nor graduate.
4. I play with words, logic, and religion like Satan plays with puppets called atheists.
5. They say a deranged man doesn't know he's deranged; what does that mean about sanity?
