We Asians have smaller skeletal frame and it has been confirmed by WHO that a shorter Asian has the same body fat percentage as a taller Causasian counterpart.

An Asian with BMI 27.5 and above is obese, while a Causasian is obese only with BMI of 30 and above.

I am an Asian BMI 20. and I am healthy too. A healthy BMI is an indication of healthy weight, but it does not necessarily mean the person is healthy. So it is important to check your health with your doctors.

This information is supported by WHO (World Health Organisation) , and the Singapore Ministry of Health and Health Promotion Board. But I agree that there may be exceptions made for bigger frame Asians.

The Asian BMI generally takes into account the body fat percentage of an Asian as compared to a Causasian of the same gender and height. It has been found (according to WHO), that a an Asian of the same height and gender would have a higher body fat percentage than his Causasian counterpart of same height.

For this reason, the Asian BMI cutoffs have been lowered.

Different ethnics in Asia have slightly different cutoffs. I understand that Indonesia has the same set of BMI values as Singapore, while the Singapore Indians have a slightly lower BMI cutoffs.

The general Asian BMI used in Singapore is in my blog in a table form.

Yes, I did know this.

It doesn't just apply to Asians, though, it applies to all of those who may have different body frames.

Yes I did. Generally speaking, Asians tend to have a higher body fat percentage at the same BMI as Caucasians. At a BMI of 20 the average Caucasian female has around 22% body fat and the average Asian female has around 25% body fat.

But I'm not sure what you meant in your first sentence, 'shorter Asian has the same body fat percentage as a taller Causasian counterpart'. That doesn't actually make sense.

Body fat percentage is always in relation to the amount of lean mass a person has, i.e. muscle and bone weight so this includes height and frame size. Body fat percentage does not vary with height. If you are tall or short, small or large framed, the body fat percentage will always be proportionate to your lean mass which is what makes it so much better than BMI, which takes no account of these factors.

With respect to majnum it does also depend on the BMI in addition to the factors you suggest. It also depends on exact genetic makeup that controls your glandular system and metabolism. I am Caucasian and have had several broken bones playing sports. Almost every time the doctor would remark that I had large bones. Yet, I have never been grossly overweight. In fact in my best shape at age 40 I weighed 204, I'm 6'1", and had only 14% body fat. At 61 I still weigh 201, even though I don't exercise as much by far. So I'm counter to the big frame theory or at least anotable exception. I think each person, no matter what their ethnicity, should be certain that their doctor evaluates them according to standards that are correct for them as individuals.
Here is a anecdote that shows what happens when one does not do this. Years ago one of my best employees, who was Thai and his wife had a baby girl. Because the child was very small at birth and the county health people were concerned they assigned a nurse to visit them once a week. The baby did not grow well, its size was far below the 'charts' that showed how large a baby (even if small at birth) should be at various ages. The county called in Social Services and they seized the child and placed it in foster care citing "Failure to thrive" as the reason. The ignorant fools did not take into consideration that the baby was oriental! I hired a lawyer for them and the baby was returned in about a week but it was a fight because Social Services did not want to admit they acted improperly. The baby actually lost almost an ounce while in foster care! What a mess that was!

Eat muesli two hours before doing exercises to boost fat burning when you train. Slow to digest, muesli takes longer to acquire through your system, so is less likely to end up turned into fat and still provides you with a good energy boost.

Think about what you can to your diet, not everything you must take away. Integrate appetizing veggies into your meal, rather than serving them on the side. Not only will they offset the fat inside your chicken or meat, but the phytochemicals in fresh produce are which can prevent diseases.

It has nothing to do with being Asian or any other ethnic/racial group. It has to do with the body frame. Some caucasians and African Americans are "small frame" and some Asians are "large frame."

The majority of Asians probably would be considered small frame, but certainly not everybody. I can think of a few Asian professional athletes who couldn't possibly be small frame.

Beans, beans, are good for your heart, the more consume the more you... lose bodyweight actually. Super-effective and full of fibre, beans will regulate your appetite and slow down the rate at which your stomach empties, meaning you keep fuller for longer.
