my cat is about 10/11 yrs old and hes a white cat, yesterday evening his eyes were weird and it freaked me out, because you know when cats have an operation and when they are half awake after it, there eyes look weird, hes been doing that, and when i called him he came to me but he missed my hand to stroke him and i did it again and he walked straight passed it, and im not sure whether thats a sign of him going blind, but im not sure, help please if you know anything.
My 2nd worry is that this morning i called him and he didnt respond to me like he has gone deaf because his ears never moved when they hear sounds.
i need help if you know what the problem is, please help?

Definitely take him to vet, it sounds serious. I hope he gets the help he needs and feels better.

I am not too sure what you mean by "weird eyes". I imagine 3 possibilities:
1. Protrusion of the third eyelids (white membrane in the corner of the eye)
2. Pupil dilation (black bit in the middle of the eye that appears bigger than normal)
3. Abnormal eye movements (Nystagmus)

Those may reflect several different health problems.
1. 3rd eyelid protrusion: general weakness, weight loss, eye pain (conjunctivitis, pain)
2. Pupil dilation: High blood pressure (usually secondary to kidney disease). this leads to retinal detachment and blindness. It may be corrected if treated in the early stages of the disease.
3. Eye movements: middle ear disease called vestibular syndrome, usually associated with head tilt and loss of balance

I recommend you identify more precisely the "weird eye" phenomenon from the above list. Also think about any other apparently unrelated symptoms:
Weight loss/gain? If so, for how long?
Appetite/thirst on the increase or decrease? If so, for how long?
Skin disease?
Dental disease?

Feel free to give additional information. Regards, julien

I think white cats are prone to blindness and other weaknesses. In cat terms he has had quite a reasonable amount of years. I would take him to the vet and see if he can make him more comfortable and eliminate any other possible causes other than genetic ones.

take him for check up to be sure.sounds like old age deafness and cataracts but i'm not a vet.at that age, you must get him regular checks with ur vet,if you dont like/trust your vet change him.best way is to ask friends if they could recommend one.our city has a vet thats always busy, full waiting room with adverts for his practice evrywhere, but i recommend the one i use because they genuinely love animals, are gentle etc where as the other vet is business first

The Vet is the best person to help you. Not people online. Obviously anyone with some sense would know that they should have got their pet to the Vet A.S.A.P. Stop wasting your time on here and contact your local vet. jesus.
