I have heard this before loads of times...

Why does the man of the house always cut the meat for the Sunday Roast or Christmas Dinner?

Weird sort of question but there you go!

Thanks

Cutting meat draws forth primal feelings of power. Most families are patriarchal, so anything ceremonial is usually lead by the males.

He doesn't "always" cut the meat for everyone.

You ask the wives of the men who do carve the Christmas turkey, if you want the real answer for those who do.

IN some cases, it may symbolize the family partnership. The woman and man each taking a role in preparing the food.

In other cases, it might be that the woman is uncomfortable handling heavy carving knives. (Also that the man may be the one who maintains and sharpens the cutlery...)

In still other cases, it may just be that "that's always the way its been done."

Cause the man is the head of the house, cannot be the woman right?
