A restaurant on Christmas Day? I guess a restaurant could try and replicate a families home-cooked Christmas fellowship feast. Check out Taste of Home Magazine...it's reader based and full of traditional dishes plus pics that show up on tables during the holidays. If you truly are going to make a Christmas meal you'll have to choose between dishes because everyone has their own traditional favorites and hospitality..whether host, hostess, or both is also part of the gathering. Sometimes people arrive with a family favorite or are asked to bring family favorites as well...especially when it comes to the desserts. You wouldn't want anyone to bring something that needs to be reheated in the microwave ~yuck.

Example: Aunt Ida makes the best sugar cookies and Uncle Pete makes the family's favorite fudge. Cousin Suzie and her family have always requested a Lemon Pie even tho it's usually a summer dessert there are no left-overs when that family gets together.

The joke is that people who eat in a restaurant on Christmas day usually have Chinese food!
American families have different traditions of what they eat on Christmas day, but the classics are roast turkey or ham, roasted root vegetables such as potatoes, parsnips, carrots and sweet potatoes; stuffing; cranberry sauce; gravy; mashed potatoes, candied yams; plum pudding; mincemeat pies; pumpkin pies; fruit cake.
My family always has lobster.

Since I have never had Christmas dinner in a restaurant, I couldn't tell you. Traditional dinners in most people's homes consist of either prime rib, turkey, or ham. Side dishes can vary according to families and their traditions.
