Sun screen, when used when in the sun prevents you from burning and turning red. You will get tan but it's kind of like slow roasting something. It takes a little longer but instead of looking like a lobster you will be golden

Sunscreen doesn't prvent you from getting darker. It protects your skin from the sun's dangerous UV rays which can cause Melanoma - it's a form of skin cancer.
Coconut oil can make you tan darker but it doesn't protect you from the UV rays. Sunscreen will though and you'll still be able to tan. I love it also because it will prevent your skin from premature aging.

If sunscreen is applied properly you shouldn't tan. A tan is your skin trying to protect itself from UV rays and sunscreen is supposed to absorb or block the UV radiation. The same stuff that makes your skin tan can cause skin cancer. Opt for a SPF 30 and apply it 30mins before going into the sun or water, then reapply every two hours. The best way to get a safe tan is by faking it and getting a bottle of Johnson's Holiday Skin or Dove Body Glow.

Hmm. Tanner is not a word. Well it is, but not in this context. If you bought a fish, would you be fisher than you were before?
Sun screen is called sun screen because it contains substances that shield you from ultra violet light. The idea is that it protects your skin from damage caused by UV radiation. SPF 15 (Sun protection Factor 15) means that you can stay in the sun 15 times longer than you could unprotected. Or to put it another way, it would take you fifteen times longer to get the same tan as you would without sun screen. The ultimate sunscreen would be SPF infinity. This would be as effective as being buried in a coffin under ground.
So ask your friends this: Who would get 'tanner' - a person lying in the sun without sunscreen, or someone buried in a coffin?

No, it prevents you from getting a sunburn that would allow you to tan. Too many people overdo it with the sunblock, though, and end up with a Vitamin D defficency. Balance is the key with stuff like that.

you actually turn brown instead of red, it takes longer but you get a deeper darker tan rather than a red burned look......
