I find that VERY interesting... and revealing! As in, "Don't confuse me with the FACTS!"

It's not *all* of the above for whom that is true. But it DOES seem to be the case for an inordinately high percentage of them.

To "Enemy" -- Right! I've seen it many times. Cases where I've totally refuted their response in the "additional Details" following a question... only to see them cravenly turn tail and run, by deleting their answer. (But the good news is that the "Additional Details" remain in place to continue to indict them. :) )

To "kwistenbiebel" -- Please NOTE that I pointed out that this is not *always* the case. But see for yourself, by looking at the profiles of those providing intolerant answers. MOST of them don't accept e-mail.

As for being bombarded by e-mails -- MY Q&A are often highly controversial to the intolerant... but they hardly ever e-mail me. If you allowed e-mail, you'd probably be surprised to find that the same would be the case for you.

To "Diane, the Succubus" -- Excellent observation. "Ostrich Syndrome," indeed!!

To "kwistenbiebel" -- I just noticed you said that you DO accept e-mail. So... haven't you noticed, yourself, that tons of e-mails from intolerant people simply just doesn't happen? They seem content to spew bile in here, but not carry it over into e-mails. (Which is a point in their favor.)

To "Peps" -- Thanks for your nice and thoughtful answer!

To "Alice in Wonderland" -- I have to disagree. Having a Q or an A deleted for NO good reason, just because some malcontent didn't like it, is FAR worse than receiving a (very rare) insulting e-mail that I can easily relegate to the trash can.

And yes -- atheists tend to be FAR more tolerant than the *pseudo*-Christians of the RRR Cult. But *actual* Christians usually are tolerant people, and tend to be on a par in that regard with most of the atheists.

To "Crazy Bee" -- Clarification. I in no way suggested than anyone's e-mail addresses be given out in Y!A. I was just pointing out that when given the option in their profiles whether or not to allow Yahoo to forward e-mails to them, a high percentage of the intolerant opt not to receive such forwarded mail.

I, personally, have always opted TO receive it, from day one. And since 2006, have received fewer than 50. So any fears the intolerant may have, in keeping Yahoo from forwarding to them, are unfounded.

Hi Roadrat

It's an interesting point. Some people block email and/or IM simply because they like to protect themselves from disturbing people who have a joyful habit of harrassment. I'm not talking about honest folk who simply want to discuss a topic, but people who are genuine internet trolls.

While it's frustrating to feel unheard and even rejected, and certainly irritating to not have the possibility to follow through on a discussion, never underestimate the changes you may have already made. Even the tiniest seed can bring forth beautiful flowers though you may never be there to see them.

People may not realize they are actually being 'intolerant'. After all, if we (and all around us) have grown up thinking the sky is pink, we are scarcely going to willingly accept that it's blue just because someone we don't know says so.

The best way to teach tolerance is to lead by example. As frustrating as it is sometimes, we cannot learn what we are not shown.

By the way, nice picture. :D Cheers

Peps

If that is your picture then I think it's safe to say, you appear to be an intelligent , young man. Now having said that,I think you are intelligent enough to know what would happen if our e-mail addresses were given. out. The hate mail and the harassement would never stop. Some people probably don't have too much too do ,but stay on line and create idiotic things. I have to read about 20 e-mails a day and I do have a life. I can't stay on the computor for 8 hrs, a day. Some of these people don't want to ask questions to learn or figure out something. They are on here to play games and pretend they are asking something. I would suspect that some of them don't have a life and are only trying to fit in somewhere and the dark side of things seem to turn them on. All i ask of them is if they have an opinion fine, state it, BUT back off name calling and degrading Jesus. It's very offensive to me and many others.
Why can't they just ask questions that make sense and stop the childish play? Is that asking too much?

When you have people like common sense, who rattle on, and on about what they believe, and you dare question him/her, she /he, then blocks you.
The whole point of Y/A is to answer questions. But, if someone does not like you answer, the retaliate, by either thumbs down, ( a legitimate way), or the block you, or they report you, get your answer deleted, and earn you a violation.
But, NOTHING is worse, than to answer a question, and then have some person email you, and tell you, that you are an idiot, or, that you didn't understand their question, or that your viewpoint is invalid, altogether.
Everyone has their reasons for doing something. Just because you don't understand what that reason is, does not give you the right to judge them ,for doing it.

And just as an observation, I find that the atheists, are far more tolerant than some of the so called, tolerant Christians.

I allow e-mail, does that mean I am tolerant?
It might help if you enlightened us with a few statistics. Untill then it is just your phantasy or your wishful thinking.

Does it not occur to you that many people do not want 76 mails per day about the bible and that truthseekers do not tend to organise mail bombardments?

Have a nice day.

They don't accept e-mails and have their questions and answers hidden..

It's "Ostrich Syndrome" put your head in the sand and you don't have to hear anyone tell you , you are an idiot...

I have not noticed this fact. It would seem logical if a person had such strong opinions on R&S, they would be eager to discuss their views.

Peace be with you
