OK. We've all been there. Before you go on, breathe deeply nand relax as much as you can. When you sing, don't look at your audience, look just over their heads. Focus on something at the back of the room, a clock or something.
I've been singing and playing guitar for around 40 years, and I still get nervous. I tend to close my eyes while singing! Also, remember, the audience are you friends and they want to hear you. Hope this helps.

I guess nerves are hard to overcome, especially when you are in a situation like yourself: in the spotlight, many people watching you... But you know, you could just pretend. 'Fake it, 'till you make it.,' if you like. Thinking about it, they won't know you are nervous unless you show it.
What are the audience there for? They are there to see a performance. Sometimes though, there might be people, no matter how good the performance is, are probably going 'la di da di da…' in their heads and are someplace else. Pretend there are some there. So, what you could do also, is just sing, show that they have come here and so they better pay attention to you. You made the effort to get up there and just give them that performance, give it your all. Besides, what are they going to do to you?
That’s about all from me. Just have fun out there, deep breaths and I hoped that helped a little.
Good luck. :)

I would say a drink would smooth your nerves a little!!! No, seriously, I used to be a bit like that and I still get nervous when I have to speak in front of people. Here's what I do: just breathe deeply and think that no one is watching you, imagine you're at home or wherever you feel comfortable. After a while, nerves will have gone.

i have the same problem when i do my clarinet auditions for GMEA All-State Band Auditions
i ALWAYS made the 1st round of Auditions (3 times in a row), but the 2nd round, i failed both times (2nd round didn't start yet this year)
and i keep getting responses like "breathe deep" and other things like that.
and it's kinda hard, but i recommend it...(better said then done! >_<)
