this boy has been looking at me from a distance for about a month and a half. finally i decided to talk to him because i heard from on of his friends that he doesn't usually approach girls first. also my friend told me he was expecting me to talk to him because i'd added him as a friend on facebook and he'd been making eye contact etc, so i figured he was interested. it took me a long time to talk to him but i finally did and it was okay..and he seemed surprised, but he wasn't grinning like an idiot or anything (like i probably way)/ and i sent him a message later that night saying we should hang out but all he said was 'yea sure'. so im confused is it normal for some guys to be this aloof and passive, or is he just not that interested? im getting mixed signals like crazy. AND on top of it this other girl likes him and is moving in way faster..so i have no clue what to do... let it go?

Guys get nervous. It may seem like passiveness, but many times it is just fear. It makes more sense with the fact that your friends told you that he does not approach girls.
As for the other girl...if you really like him, then don't let it go too early. See if you can beat her to it =P.
