My mother would always complain that I don't help out much. Today, just hoping to please her, I did help out. But I had no idea that there was wine in the plastic bag I was carrying. I was about to place it on the counter but since the plastic bag came from the floor of the car, I figured it must be dirty so I placed it on the chair. It rolled and it fell and I broked the wine.

My mother was so mad she cursed me. I was hurt. On top of that, she said I was being irresponsible and stupid when I explained that I expected wine bottles in a box. Not in a plastic bag!

Was I wrong. I'm really hurt. I want to cry. All I wanted to do was please her.

But... I spilled it on the tile floor. And the maid cleaned it after wards... I think she's mad because my dad has been criticizing her the whole day. And yeah she does love wine and that being the only thing that would help her forget her sense of inferiority, she cussed at me... And the filipino kind of cussing is really harsh. Worse than **** or damn or ****.

Perhaps it is a knee-jerk reaction... my dad talked to me and told me that mum was probably just tired. But you needn't say, "Putang Ina" (Mother Focker)! Because being my mother, she's cussing at herself! >.>

My mother is hypocrite! She always tell me not to cuss. But I only cuss jokingly. When she does it, she means it.

Your mother must have some frustrations in her life and she does not properly deal with them, and doesn't seem to have an "outlet" so she takes it out on others... if she drinks a lot, this could contribut to her "moods"... alcohol is a depressant, and people who drink regularly are normally not very pleasant to be around.

You weren't wrong.. how were you supposed to know wine was in the bag? And it broke by accident.... you aren't a mind reader, so it would be impossible for you to know what your mom had in that bag.

take care hon... and remember -- your mother's bad attitude has nothing to do with you. it's HER fault, not yours.

take care

Not to excuse her cursing at you but I think that was just a knee jerk reaction. She reacted in the moment because she was annoyed. She probably feels bad by now too.
I might try going to her explain you were only trying to help and that it was an accident and you are sorry. It wouldn't surprise me if she would apologize for her "over the top" reaction.
Just because she is your parent does not mean she isn't human. We all say and do things in the moment that we wish we could take back, even parents.

Forgive her, you would holla if she broke something that you wanted really bad...

She'll get more but she was really just prolly upset cause you wasted $20 and she had a mess to clean up before going back to the store for more...

Possibly messed up her dinner schedule or plans for wine drinking after wards.

Its all good...

My kid spilt a $7 bottle of olive oil on the carpet and tile and i cussed for about 1 min than got over it in about 10 minutes after my husband cleaned up the mess.
(Wine is a very hard mess to clean, she had to do it.)

Hello,
Yes I can understand your mothers frustration.
Here is a kid who NEVER helps out, lazy whatever.

You made a half hazard effort to help out, more then likely she had to scream from outside to get you to help. You were not paying attention to what you were doing, resulting in a broken bottle of wine.

You want sympathy, it is written above. Sorry but there is more to this story then what you are writing. Lets hear from your mother.
Kids feel they need to get rewarded for every little thing they do, and lord knows we are not allowed to get mad at you kids.
