Honestly, are you speaking of the protagonist in the story of the Bible? Are you speaking of the protagonist in the story of the Koran, or the Tanakh? Or are you speaking of a God whom you know yourself without using any other external source to experience it?

Who or what is it?

God is;period. He has revealed Himself in the bible. Allah is a completely diffrent god with a diffrent motive and character as Jehovah who came to earth as Jesus the man. There is much too much to get a concise answer. God says ( and I know this from personal experience) that if you seek Him honestly, truly with all your questions, then He will show himself to you. Then what ever questions you have he will answer for you.
Remember though, God is holy. You come to him on his terms; respectfully and in awe. in humility and yet boldness He will not turn away anyone who seeks him.
You can only seek him in theBiblical scriptures for yourself. He, by the Spirit will lead you to know who he is. It is a very personal , rational faith walk that is proven by reading the bible, observing the world and confirming in your heart the truth that God is.

It's a monotheistic chant but mainly it's Islamic. They don't want the weird duality of the triune God. It's not good maths.

I sometimes find it amusing to see all the religious people who believe their personal version of god is correct; then I see all the atheists who think their beliefs (or lack thereof) about god are correct.

Nobody seems to realize or care that we ALL believe that our personal beliefs about god are true, and nobody will ever convince us otherwise!
