The attitude would not endear you to most instructors. The martial arts is a discipline. If it is done with the attitude that it will change in 4 days, fat chance. The perfect push up will help with the punch power. (Power not Strength). This incorporates the twist of a punch in the arm strengthening.

Punching a heavy bag. All the push-ups in the world won't strengthen your punches because a powerful punch has very little to do with muscle mass in your arms. Strength for a punch acutally comes out of your base - i.e. your legs and hips. Shadow boxing is useful for teaching speed, but for power, you actually need to punch something.

without any weights your best bet is doing pushups where you burst off the ground and clap at the top. throwing a ball that bounces against a wall whether it be a medicine ball with two hands or a smaller ball with one hand helps to imitate the forward burst of punching as well. just concentrate on putting your hips into the punch as well while shadow boxing. That alone will significantly strengthen your punch.

When people that want that EXPLOSIVE power, like a shotputter, they lift very heavy weight, with less reps. They try to basically do the heaviest weight they can, and explode through the motion, just be careful not to "lock out" or fully extend when trying to toss around the heaviest weight possible as it will damage your joints. Same theory as when a baseball player is on deck and has the weighted donut on his bat. When he takes it off the bat and then swings, the bat feels like balsa wood, and he can swing it faster. Also work on your triceps, the muscle that is used when extending your arm. It will help dliver the power from your chest with a quick snap. ANd always, always, punch through your target.

What push ups do you do? If you do the traditional open handed push up only, try to vary it with more types of push ups. Some push ups that are very heavy to do are knuckle push ups, clapping push ups, one handed push up, push up with a heavy rucksack on your back, push up with your feet higher than your body (place your feet on a chair or on the stairs), and fingertip push ups. You can also combine the push up types (knuckle push ups while having a heavy rucksack on your bag). Actually push up alone is good enough, the variations make it better.

Another alternative i got from my friend is to carry an object that is not too big enough for your hands to hold, then while standing up, hold it close to your chest, then extend your arm, making the object far from your chest, then pull back your arm, extend again, and on and on. Do it fast and try not to lower your arm. Do it in a minute non stop, take a rest and do it again.

Last but not least, try to hold a heavy object (preferably a thick and heavy book), hold it firmly, and your arms must be perpendicular to your body, never lower your arm. Do it in 5 minutes then rest.

punching strength depends on having the conditioning to be able to consistently shift your center of gravity in such a way that your entire body is behind your punch. it seems to me that you're doing too much upper body work outs.

you also need to work out your abs, hips, and thighs to have a stable leverage when throwing a punch.

I think you are a boy who want have strong punch.

And this is my speciality. I started Tae-won-do when I was 5. and I stop when I was 12. And I notice that kicking is stronger then punching.

As I learn, around triple,,, but you want know about punch.

Biceps affect a lot in punching. To improve biceps, you need to exercise. You may bend your arm with heavy stuff. (Biceps should face in front.)

Also, you can push-up by using your fist.

And When you make a fist, you bend your fingers and make it round.

After, few minutes, you may have scar of nails in your palm.

And that is right way to make fist.

And you better punch by screwing your arm.

You understand?

I hope,,,,,,,,

I can't explain by English well,

And I hope you understand.
