Tina,

What everyone said is correct - it shouldn't take long to pass the stone.

BUT - your Urologist will want to examine the stone. Did he tell you to pee into a container or a fine strainer?

If he didn't, that's what you should do. You want to catch that stone when it comes out and give it to your Doctor.

Once its analyzed they can recommend ways to lesson the amount of stones you produce in the future.

I've had a number in the pas 15 years, and each one has been extremely painful. One especially so. Your lucky this one moved into your bladder.

Good Luck,

Ken

This spring I had a kidney stone trapped in my right ureter, which then caused hydronephrosis and eventually a severe infection that nearly killed me by the time I persuaded the medical staff at the local ED that I really needed help. I saw a urologist and received some treatment. The stone eventually traveled down into my bladder, but I didn't pass it through my urethra until a month later. Usually it will be passed more quickly. Sometimes they'll give you a strainer to catch it. Your urologist should follow up if it seems you haven't passed it. Bladder infections can be a clue it hasn't passed. Good luck.

A kidney stone is usually made up of Calcium that has hardened. It is usually small, but very painful when passed. There are times however, when you may not notice it. The typical adult can pass the stone anywhere from 4-30 days. If your stone takes longer than this to pass it is best to consult with a Doctor. In any event, it would be best to consult with a doctor as stones can be made up of other material that may need alternative treatments. Typically drinking 2-3 liters of water per day will allow a stronger urinary tract to push the stone along and prevent further recurrences.

Generally not long. It will pass as soon as you empty the bladder. The passage through the ureter (from the kidney down to the bladder) is usually much narrower than the urethra.

If the stone has gotten into the bladder then it will usually be eliminated as soon as the bladder is emptied.

The only exceptions usually involve some anatomical variation of the bladder or urethra where the stone may lodge.

If the stone is in the ureter, the time it takes to pass is variable. Large stones may not pass at all and may need a urologist to get it out.

I have passed kidney stones at least 6 times a year for the last few years. Turns out they are 100% uric acid stones. But when the stones hit my bladder, they usually pass that same day, within 1 to 3 empties of the bladder. But, sometimes kidney stones break up in pieces and they come out kind of sand-like or in smaller pieces throughout the day/night. Good, luck. You may contact me if you have any further questions.

I don't know if I can give you an exact estimation, but I once had one for 6 days.
I wanted to answer, because I thought I would suggest the remedy I was told about, & two days later it was gone.
I know it is VERY painful, so I wanted to help in 'some' way.
If you can stomach it, drink some dark beer. Amber Bock is what I drank-about 8 of them over a 2-day period.
GOOD LUCK!

I couldn't just sit around and do nothing like my doctors suggested.

They didn't want me to do anything or to take herbs or herbal remedies, but I had to try something - they just wanted me to do dialysis!

This program allowed me to take control of my health. I went from Stage 4 to Stage 3 kidney disease.

It was easy to do and my BUN, creatinine and anemia are all in better ranges.
