Just love him, be there for him, and never no matter what, ever speak a negative word about his father. It will take time , but I will never forget when my daughter came to me and ask me if she could call me dad. My reply was I would be proud to have her call me dad. It has been 10 years and I don't see her as anyone but mine, and though her father is a deadbeat...she has never and will hear from me.

sounds like u should just keep on doing what your doing. he'll know how you feel. congrats to his mom for choosing a guy like you!

I want to second what chicago said.....never speak ill of that "natural" father. if he is a loser that child will know when he grows up who his father really is...u

be there....for him not only when he needs to u. Try spending more and more time with him. Look after his smallest needs. moreover, true love does not need any showoff...he is too young as of now...will understand u and ur feeling as n with time. Take care :)

Just treat him with respect and tell him that you love him. Treat him like he deserves to be treated and he will know that he has an extra dad in you.

Just be a good role model, encourage him, and give him support.. when he does well, praise him... be firm but kind and fair.

And let him know that if he ever needs to talk you will listen... he will remember.

take care.

The best thing you can give him is your time and attention. Spend time listening to his stories, jokes and questions. He's fortunate to have you in his life.
