What one does for God is more important than what one believes about God, but how one believes in God is a good sign of what one does for God.

What you do is more important, but believing about whom you are doing or serving for is important too. Many believe they serve the Almighty God but they are not. Their worships are nothing for God.
Matthew 15:9
But in vain they do worship me, teaching for doctrines the commandments of men.

There's nothing I can do FOR God in my understanding, God being Source of all, Grand Architect, All-knowing, Everywherepresent, All-powerful, EXCEPT talk with God contstantly. (a/k/a pray) That affects how I live and what I believe.

So what I believe, what I do, and how I live are getting pretty closely aligned these years. I wouldn't try to separate one leg of this trinity from the rest, they work very well together, for me.

Good Q. Thanks.

what right things you do "in the name" of God? or How well and right you live your life? It is the "righteousness" in any action that is important, however you live ( with or without belief in God).

What you KNOW about yourself or god is much more important than what you BELIEVE about the same.

(Knowing what or why you believe is not True Knowledge.)

If you want to know what's important:

It's important that you follow God's commandments.

Ecclesiastes 12:13

"Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man."

It's important for you to believe in God.

Hebrews 11:6

"But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him."

It's important for you to love God with all your hearts, all your soul, with all your mind:

Matthew 22:37-39

"Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind.

This is the first and great commandment.

And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself."

And to love your neighbor as thyself.

It's important for you to believe in Christ and to obey his words.

John 8:31

"Then said Jesus to those Jews which believed on him, If ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed;..."

God is love. Everything you do or say, the focus is to share God's immense love which God has showered so generously into your heart with the others through your God-given talents. Appreciate and give thanks for all things and people in your life.

The most very important thing to God and to any wise man which goes beyond all that we do or don't do is that you and I get saved through faith in his Son.
