Why does it have to be a contest?

Both Pope John Paul II and Pope Benedict XVI are very different men with very different gifts.

Pope John Paul II, born in 1920, was elected in 1978 at the very young age of 58 and served for over 26 years, dying in 2005 at the age of 84.

Pope Benedict XVI was born in 1927, elected pope in 2005 at the age of 78 and recently turned 80. He is the oldest person to have been elected pope since Clement XII in 1730.

Pope Benedict has neither the youth nor the time in office that John Paul had.

With love in Christ.

it matters little what your preference is. The love and respect the catholic world had for Pope John Paul II is the same love and respect we have for our current pope Benedict XVI.

you heathens and so-called christians when you deride our pope you in effect deride the authority given him by Jesus Himself as the visible and temporal head of His Church.

"ignorance is bliss" right?
