So the usual philosophy is that a guy should have all these great ideas for a date in mind when he asks a girl out. He's pretty much expected to know a movie theater, have a back up plan in case that falls through, have a few good restaurant ideas, and maybe an idea for a follow up for dessert.

So that sounds good, but what if you aren't very familiar with the area where the girl lives.

I mean, girls always like it when the guy has a plan, and saying "Let's go out to dinner sometime, but I don't know where" sounds kind of pathetic, but if you don't know the area, how are you supposed to come up with an idea?

Just a thought I was wondering... how do you plan a date in an area you're unfamiliar with? Or do you bring her to your area(30 minute drive usually).

Go on Yelp.com. It will give you some ideas on restaurants and other entertainment around her area. If you guys have already been on a date or two, I think its perfectly fine to ask her what is good to do around her area though. Good luck.

Ok so the idea of the guy always having to have all these plans is a pretty archaic way of thinking. That being said....

Being honest comes to mind first. It wouldn't bother me one bit for a guy to say, "Hey. I want to spend some time with you, but I'm not terribly familiar with your area. Any suggestions or places you like to go a lot?"

Or if that doesn't work, ask around. See if you know anyone familiar with her area. Or drive to that town sometime and do the research.

ASK THE GIRL?

I DO NOT KNOW YOUR AREA OF TOWN HERE SO WHERE DO YOU LIKE TOO EAT AT MOST?
OR WHERE WOULD YOU SUGGEST WE EAT?
OR WHERE DO YOU WANT TO DINE AT?
