Yes, certainly the old testament, etc. are the words of men, but they are the carefully recorded historical facts, some of which were translated and re-translated and put together in a Bible and other religious documents. Also there are some documents, that are not even released to public from long ago, and some are lost. I believe that many things as they are in today's bible are distorted and misinterpreted statements of some long ago lived authors. Maybe today religion is not so much about power over the flock as it was before, but interpretations of those recorded words also can be greatly distorted deliberately by priests, etc. of long ago in order to install fear into their parishioners.
I believe that God created people very different from one another and he loves them as they are, and there is no ways that He would put out a word threatening His own creations for being the way He made them. Imagine of all of us were the same, thought the same, had the same sexual preferences, etc.? And yes, Jesus is great and loving, and I agree with you - He would never refer to the hateful things.

I doubt a lot of the Bible, even though I'm a Catholic. One reason: Man wrote the Bible, not God.
A lot of the time it does sound like the writers try to be good and honest but on certain subjects like homosexuality they put in their own thoughts and feelings instead of God's. As a result, some parts of the Bible dont sound like Jesus or God. And most dont see it.
As for considering myself a good person, i do not entirely consider myself a good person. I know that i can be and at times am a good person, but like every human i have my own flaws and faults.
I do not beleive the words that sound not like God or Jesus are their own words.
And also remember Christianity was based on the Jewish religion, as Jesus was a Jew. So in some ways the Bible is based on a religion that doesnt exist (Judeo-Christian) any longer.

No. I know too much about the Old Testament to deny it as being the word of God. It tells about the coming Messiah, tells us what He is going to do and go through, it's amazing that it happened the way it did. As far as the things concerning homosexuals, you have to understand the Law of Moses, what it was for. God knew that there wasn't a man alive who could live by it. That's why God sent His Son to fulfill it and die with it.
That last part takes time to understand. But if you keep at it and are wanted by God, then He will show you what it means.

I do not consider myself a good person. I was born in sin and depravity. It is only through the sacrifice of Christ and the grace of God that I was regenerated and came to repentance. The Bible says that there is no one who seeks God, no not one.
I would recommend that instead of asking the masses, ask God to illuminate the Bible to you and read the Bible yourself (the entire thing can be read in 72 hours). Once you are finished, I believe you will understand how it was divinely inspired. You will get no such comfort by asking others.

Yes, Jesus did confer with the historical scriptures. He truthfully fullfilled the prophecies written approximately in Isaiah. Here's a loopy idea: Genesis is truthfully precise. The study is available in the market. Look it up.

When I was a little kid I doubted those were words of god. Now I am 100% sure those were words of people. God is a man made concept and so are his/her words.
