Do you ever think "Maybe there is something to all that crap they rant on about since they're willing to risk an eternity in 'hell' for it."?

sortakawliga- hi! interestingly enough, I survived a shootout, was shot near the heart, and had to be revived three times; god never once came into my mind; so please don't generalize

It's obvious to me that many of you can't even begin to understand morality in real terms, hardly can you make idle discussions about it; a pity

Alas, maybe Yahoo answers is just not a good place to get an accurate perspective on the religious.
My Christian friends don't seem nearly as misinformed and bigoted as you guys. Oh well.

jmz- not really, countless people died for false causes; besides, I studied the bible, read it many times, and analyzed the very roots of Christianity and beyond; I found nothing but lies and contradictions.

Anyone who doesn't (admit to ever thinking about it) is either a liar or a fool.
Just my opinion. :-)

Well atheists assume man has all the answers.
I never thought that.
Believers believe that what was true in spiritual matters for the first man and woman on earth is true for us today. So that way all generations of man know what the truth is and it has never changed.
Atheist have no such connection to the past. They cannot give hope to what lies ahead after death for themselves. They say man is the best judge of morality. But no one has ever lived up them.
Also if man is the creator of laws. Then which man's laws are better than another man's laws?
The atheistic view is too disjointed and too disconnected to the past, to be of much use for me. In fact an atheist view has no appreciation at all for world history. And will b e skeptical of it and see no value in it. Unlike a believers history that cannot be changed. And must stay intact. So that man can learn from his past mistakes.
I didn't even talk about the eternal consequences did I? The atheist loses much just with the facts here on this earth. And he really misses out on eternity.

No.
You are sadly missing out on a lot. Let go of your pride in your own intellect and ego, which is puny, and nothing compared to the majesty and glory and intellect of God. It's sort of like a little kid who mistakenly thinks he knows all there is to know and that his parents are idiots.
edit:
Gantz : It wasn't meant to be just a mere "analogy".
And as far as morality goes, morality must be based on more than just ourselves. It must be based on an absolute standard outside of ourselves, otherwise we fall into the abyss of moral relativism.
Uncle Remus 54: Good answer..... I never have believed (even during my former non-Christian days) that mankind or mankind's intellect had all of the answers to life's questions.
Anyone who puts their faith and trust solely on mankind itself eventually comes to a dead end. Case in point: "Mr. God is Dead" himself, Nietzsche, ended up going mad, and became a resident of what was then honestly and non-PC'ily called an insane asylum....

Wow! You're getting a lot of ignorant and ill-advised statements. Isn't it funny how many Christians pride themselves on being such warm and loving people, but the moment you question their beliefs all you get are hateful comments and threats?
The reason they disregard other people's opinions is because we live in a society where your views are only respected if you believe in god.
I believe religion answers questions that simply can't be known...so I think we're on the same page.
Watch....I'm going to get a bunch of thumbs down from the Bible thumpers.....haha, & it'll prove my point exactly.

Do u ever think maybe theres something to Christianity, since Christians are willing to surrender and devote their lives to a person (Jesus) that they cant see? Ever think about all those Christians in the first two centuries who were martyrs and were murdered for believing in this person they cant see? Who preached Him through oppression and spread His gospel to where it is now? How could they have been so sure? How could they hace succeeded? Maybe there is something to this Jesus?

What if the scientist, of today, discovered a flower that made one's capacity for death-absent.
Then in your language eternal-life, would become what, just the abscence of Death.
Most Christians may be misquided, but the tasers of star-trek were mere fiction till just a decade or so ago. So vice-versa to your logic, sir... maybe the science-fiction of today's bible...will be the abscence of our death's, in just day's to come. All condemnation, set aside, of course....

Atheists, do you ever think that us 'god-believers' just might be onto something? Do you ever think "Maybe there is something to all that crap they rant on about, since they have the unshakable knowledge that they are going to heaven for eternity."?

I think that many, if not all, atheists have never been confronted with a situation that tests their faith in their professed belief. Have you ever heard the saying, "There are no atheists in a foxhole?" When the time comes that you are face to face with your own mortality, you will then come to grips with your immortality. You may sell out later, but at that point you will have truly learned your own truth.

No! They don't know anything, and are not believing in God because they don't know and yet rather than calling themselves Agnostic they take the next step by calling themselves Atheists - WHEN THEY DON'T REALLY KNOW! That's not scientific! That's FAITH! Yet they won't admit it because they don't even apply the definition of faith to what they are doing. That's called denial.
I didn't mind your question, and it's nothing personal;, but every time I come across someone with AM ( Atheist Mafia ) on their name, I block them. Just letting you know.
