My husband and i are seperated (since August) he lives in Michigan and i'm in SC how can we file a joint return?

Where you live doesn't affect how you file your Federal return. One of you can prepare it and sign it and then send it to the other to be signed and filed. If a refund is due, you can have it split into two direct deposits in any way that you can agree upon.

State returns will get tricky so you'll have to contact the MI and SC tax authorities to see how that will be handled.

It's your option to file a joint return or not. You should be able to file a joint return if you and your spouse get along.

Do you have contact? If not you will probably have to file married filing separate....but higher tax rates you will both come out better filing together..try to talk him into it...
