Though commonly used by those professing to be Christians, "God is my co-pilot" is not a statement that is consistent with Biblical teaching.

monkeys and co-pilots are followers. God is the leader !! To say God is my co-pilot when you are a Christian is saying that you are leading and have God along just in case you need him. I don't think it is a good thing to call God either a monkey or co-pilot.

Because the Helper Monkey one is thought of as an insult, and no one, Christian or otherwise, likes to be insulted.
It's more the tone than what's actually being said.

God should be considered your pilot, and your co-pilot. He should be the one in control and the one helping you along. And never, due to disrespect should He ever be reffered to as a monkey

I don't either statements. As a Christian you need to let God have control and not place Him in a secondary role in your life. The other statement is is disrespectful is an extreme way. God is all powerful creator of the everything and deserves our respect.

I don't like to think that either statement as being good ones. The monkey is usually a reference to something foolish, insulting. So I think that's why people are offended.
