Mahal: Yep..you're right. I find less and less actual evidence for evolution with each passing question and answer.

Actually, my question was a half-a**ed counter to all the "If humans evolved from monkeys, then why are there still monkeys?" questions. Appreciate your honest response.

because everyone wants the feeling of love from a heavenly being, even if it is imaginary. it's like a little kid hugging a stuffed animal and talking to it. the stuffed animal isn't real or alive, (or maybe it is,) but it still comforts the kid greatly. some other kids don't need stuffed animals. no decent person would say that a kid who doesn't sleep with a stuffed animal is smarter then a kid who does sleep with one. and who honestly cares which kid has a stuffed animal or not? the real issue is when the stuffed animal kids try to convince the other kids to get stuffed animals, and the kids without stuffed animals try to get the others to give up their stuffed animals, and the kids with stuffed bears try to make the kids with stuffed dogs start sleeping with stuffed bears.

i know this question is meant to rile up people and provide a bunch of spitting mad answers, but that didn't stop me from giving it my best, honest, shot.

Friday has a point.

What you failed to consider is the condition of the human spirit. With all this discovery and progress, those that have been able to reap the benefits of it all are very thankful and insightful.

Those on the other end of the spectrum know there has to be a reason for their circumstance, no matter how unfortunate it may be.

Have you ever tried to take a blankie from a baby? It's comfortable and warm. They don't want to let go of something that makes them happy. Religion isn't stupid or evil to most people. It gives them hope and helps them get through the day. Until another option can make them feel as warm and fuzzy as their church does they will hold on to what comforts them.

Sorry, that evolution stuff must not work after all.

(Guess what? You just made an argument in favor of Creationism! Congrats...)
