Currenly we aren't speaking (thank god). But eventually I am sure I will have to mend the relationship. She is bossy, pushy, alcoholic, and rude. What to do?

Maybe all sister in laws are the same? geez!
*Dont get close... just let her know that you would like to move on and be civil for the better of the "family"
hopefully she will be mature enough to do so... if she does all you have to do is be cordial. only go around her if necessary. If you start going around her too much you both may get on eachothers nerves or more problems may arise.
Take the high road and be the bigger person... kill em with kindness... afterall you win with honey not vinegar.

I think that you have done everything in your power to be friends with them and you know don't worry about if they answer or not. One day they will realize how cool of a person they have in there family. Believe me time is the cure and solution to many of these problems. If they do not write or call or ignore you just do the same ignore there attitue. Never change who you are and never feel bad for being who you are no matter what they think.

Since you're asking for opinions...
If you want it to stop, then you need to confront her...no matter how uncomfortable that feels. Confronting people is not easy for everyone. But do this now and she'll understand where she stands with you. You get either one of two reactions...
She says OK...and trid to make it better.
or...
tells you to screw off and stop telling her what to do.
So prepare for either one of these reactions. People like that will keep pushing until somthing, or someone (you) push back...and they do this just because they can.

Set yourself some personal boundaries and some limits in your life... you don't have to apologize to her for existing...
Do not let her control your emotions... accept the fact that she's obnoxious and move forward with your life. If you have to be in her company, be polite, but gather your dignity and act like a lady. You don't have to sit around and shoot the sh*t with her.... If it's beyond her realm of comprehension to act like a lady, too, it's not your problem....sometimes we have to accept others at face value, and it sounds like a good time for you to do it!

Try your best to be the bigger person and suck it up. You don't have to live with her? I know it's tough because my sister is that way. Just try what you can to keep the peace but some times that doesn't work but at least you tried.

anyone who`s an alcoholic is not worth arguing with.. just ignore her. the more you ignore her she will come to her senses one day and you both will get along just fine

Be Friendly...don't change yourself for her...be whatever you are...this is the best solution I think...talk to her if you are forced into...but remember don't change yourself...this will damage you more than her or any other person for that matter...

iono but i need to know this too cause my sister in law and i fight... Everyone tells me just to ignore her and if we talk dont talk about something we know we will fight about...But im good with just ignoring
