The term "illegal immigrants" refers to....well - the breaking of our immigration laws. These laws were created for a reason; not to keep people out, but to control the flow of people. If we do not maintain control a multitude of problems will result. Why have immigration laws our officials refuse to enforce ? I welcome all newcomers to America - those who love this country enough to go through the legal channels to become a citizen, that is. Otherwise - stay where you are.

because our politicians have benefited from allowing the unchecked flow of illegal immigrants to the U.S. until recently politicians have continued to support illegal immigration then U.S. citizens let them know they will no longer have their job if they continue to sell us out. now they are building the fence, deporting all illegal immigrants they can find via random raids, severe fines and jail time for employers who hire illegal immigrants. if you haven't joined a group do so and contact politicians so it's clear to them that they've got to abide by our will or run the risk of losing their jobs. links latest information on illegal immigration. EDIT FROM THE ARTICLE; "You'll start seeing businesses and executives indicted by federal grand juries and made into criminals," said immigration lawyer Wayne Haglund. I agree with Corporate America!!! He's one of the few well informed persons I've seen so far. On the other hand, did you know that it’s extremely difficult for employers to identify illegal immigrants? You are talking about fake documents that can be presented at the time of employment. What about genuine documents? If someone purchases a legitimate birth certificate from a drug junky in Miami, goes to DMV and gets a good I.D. Card or Drivers License, then what do you do when they present you with this documents at the time of employment? You could ask them why they don’t speak any English if they were born here, but that’s illegal. You could be violating their civil rights. You can tell them they don’t look or talk like Puerto Ricans, but again, that’s illegal. You can participate with the ICE’s internet based verification program and verify the data, but again, this IS legitimate data. So what do you do? Doesn’t it almost look like the government has left several loop holes on purpose?

I find it comical to see that some of you folks believe that this country is actually ran by the American people and not by big corporations. Illegal immigration has, and will be, a great benefit to this country when it comes to labor. All the present noise on this issue is meant to awaken our passions so that people get upset and vote for the candidate with the most hatred towards illegal immigrants.

Oh, its him again, but now he's using Mando for a username. This guy has the same exact diatribe, but under different usernames. He saves his diatribes on probably wordpad file, then copies and paste, and post his racist contentions to incite others. I've already asked Yahoo techies to look up his I-P address to block him out, but I guess thats beyond their expertise. oh well, complain is the best I can do, which I've already done.

Louis, what good is enforcing immigration laws, when the Immigration Reform Act of 1986 (IRCA) has a loophole to allow employers to legally hire undocumented aliens ?? These illegals come here for the jobs. Most of them are gainfully employed, which means businesses continuing to hire them.

If illegals are metal shavings on the ground, employers are electro magnets, then the jobs is electrical currents to power the magnet. So long as you have power and the magnet device, the shavings on the ground (the ground is Mexico) will continue to fly up to the magnetic source.

Cut the power source (jobs), and the metal shavings fall back down to the ground. Contain the magnetic device (employers), and the metal shavings will again, fall back down to the ground.

Sealing the borders with more border patrol officers, is comparable to placing a barrier screen between the magnet and the metal shavings on the ground, but the barrier is perforated with large holes. The metal shavings are still getting through.

The loophole I've mentioned are the documents required to prove their legal right to work. It stipulates employers must gather and xerox documents, but employers are NOT REQUIRED TO AUTHENTICATE these documents. This means fake social security cards, fake birth certificates, and fake state ID cards (or fake drivers license) are allowable proof of legal right to work.

To stop the tide of illegals, you need to crack down and prosecute the employers. Its as simple as that.

I been wondering the same thing for a long time now. We have the laws in place, but we do little or nothing to enforce them. This just says to anyone who wants to come here that he can come and not get caught. I think it's grat that people from other countries want to come here to live, but why is doing it legally such a big problem?

Enforcing immigration laws is currently the responsibility of the federal government. ICE (formerly INS), like any agency, needs funds to operate and the immigration problem is nationwide. All federal agencies run on tax dollars and in order to effectively combat the nationwide immigration crisis they would need a massive amount of tax dollars which would probably require an increase in taxes or a serious amount of financial restructuring. Congress does not want to do this, especially with the presidential elections coming up. The Democrat controlled Congress does not want to do anything to annoy liberal and/or hispanic voters, which is a huge amount of their party base, in the final months before the elections.

immigration laws are created to maintain a false sense of security. they are not enforced because cheap labor is needed. If you go to the central and imperial valleys of california alone you will see that the majority of labor working in the fields are immigrants from mexico and central america. the agriculture business is a multi-billion dollar industry. if you read up on california history you will learn that agriculture corporations funded and helped Reagan, the grandaddy of all conservatives, to the governorship and eventually the presidency. if people are so concerned about ilegall immigration perhaps they should focus on coroporate greed instead of embracing sensationalist propagnda that pundits often spew without realizing that this issue goes far beyond people simply moving from one side of a line to another. to end it, you remove illegal immigration, the abundance of cheap goods will dissappear because corporate greed will rarely allow profits to be sacrificed.

What you hear about is a small number of illegals and media blowing it all out of proportion. They love your country so much they will do anything to get in....what more do you want? If they all were legal citizens, then you would have to pay them a fair wage instead of threatening to send them back because they won't work at a poverty level.
