Hi,

My brother has a large screen hdtv with component input but no hdmi port. Is there a way to convert from HDMI (output) to component (input)? So for instance, to be able to plug an HDMI enabled DVD Player to his Component (only) enabled tv.

Thanks in advance!

No and there is no fundamendal reason to do it either.
The source can provide both component and HDMI, so just use the component output from the DVD player. Even if there was a converter, the end result would be the same.
There is a lot of hype on HDMI, but most people can't see the difference and in some cases component may even look better.

HDMI is somewhat frustrating to me. All it really does is place a DRM stranglehold on all on all of your media and you end up paying more for that.
