I'm an 18 year old girl and I absolutely love going hunting! It is my favorite thing! what do guys think about this? I'm quite a tomboy and love anything outdoors. I was wondering if maybe this is why a lot of guys shy away from me.

it's been asked what do I hunt and if I have had any good kills. This year I killed a nice buck (mule deer) and got an antelope a couple of weekends ago. Last year I had a specialty elk hunt and killed a 350 class elk. It was awesome! I also got an antelope last year too. I have killed a couple other bucks. I'm really lucky. I seem to draw tags for almost every hunt I put in for. But my elk is definately my prize!

WOW! You are a prize!
I think it's great that you, as a girl, like hunting. We guys need plenty more young women like yourself in our ranks, otherwise, we are going to be losing our hunting rights at the hands of female politicians! Too many women just plain fear guns.

You would be the HUNTING Queen if you could share one of your lottery hunts with a like-minded boyfriend.

You are so unique ( in the game that you have taken) that one of the major Outdoor publications should be buying your story.

I don't think your hunting interest is what's scaring boys away; one or two may feel that you skill makes them look skimpy in comparison, but good guys will be proud of you!
Keep on shootin', and huntin' ( game and boys!)

I think its absolutely great!!

As a Grandfather type guy I will say that I think that all gender should should know about hunting and the outdoors in general. It gives them a greater understanding of many more things that non hunters will ever have.

When my kids ( 2 boys & 2 girls) were growing up i was just thrilled that my girls enjoyed hunting and fishing just as much as my boys did.
Im sure that some guys will shy away because you represent competition to them and some guys and girls may see that as too macho and will tage you with unkind names behind your back.

My daughters have turned into real knock outs * Must have gotten that from their moths im sure* and now have kids of their own. And their husbands must have seen something there that they liked. Yet neither husband hunts so its a mixture of things that make a woman attractive to a guy.

Now my daughters are somewhat citified ( living in big city) and dont go hunting but we still set around and even the non hunting husbands enjoy the talks of us hunting all the way thru high school and into the college years of the girls.

For what its worth to your young women out there who do hunt and who do enjoy the outdoors.
Im sure that some guys will shy away from you because you do hunt and young inmature guys see that as being too butch in a girl. those are the guys that you dont want anyway as they are too superficial to start with and are not worth the time of day.

To close. I think its really great that you girls / women do hunt and if a guy has problems with that then dont bother with him andlook for a man who is able to get past that and see ALL of you as a package deal and one who knows a winning combination when he sees it.

Like my 30 year old * Baby Girls * says " You go Girl"

I think its nice to know there are more girls out there enjoying the outdoors. I think maybe that guys that shy away from you maybe dont want a hunting/fishing competition. I would just love knowing that there is something that can be enjoyed together no matter who did better.
Still perhaps some of these shy guys might have a crush on you but are too afraid to try and make you happy. Dont change yourself just be yourself and things will come your way.

Hunting is an equal opportunity Sport, whether you are a man, woman or youngster.* Some people choose to Hunt, and Some people choose not too.* That is all that needs to be said about Hunting.* You being a woman who Hunts causes some young men to be insecure, and uncomfortable with you.* You will find a young man who appreciates you, and your interest in Hunting.*

there is nothing wrong with liking to hunt and being a tomboy.
My husband is very thankful I never out grew it.
A lot of guys like to have a hunting buddy that is their best friend. How better to enjoy everything you like??

Don't worry about what the guys think just keep doing what you enjoy and the right one will find you....mine did

Although I personally do not like hunting and am not a tomboy, I think you should be whoever you are, and be proud of it. There is nothing wrong with girls who are tomboys and love the outdoors, everyone is different. Maybe some boys might not be interested in dating you because of that, but then they are not the guy for you. One day a guy (or probably a few) will come along who absolutely love that in you and will enjoy getting to share in those activities with you. Be proud of who you are, it's what makes you unique!

If I was 50 years younger you would be in serious trouble.

I had no sons so I took my daughters hunting. One took to it, the other didn't. The one that enjoyed it stayed interested until she discovered boys. I have talked to her about taking my 15 year-old twin granddaughters hunting and she absolutely refuses. I asked her why and she said her mother was nuts. I think its sad and unfortunate, we need all the hunters we can get.

Join a hunting club, a sportspersons association like Ducks Unlimited, a shooting club, or try anything you can to hang around hunters. The single ones (and some of the married ones too) will not shy away from you.

Consider running a free profile in a dating service, like friendfinder.com, match.com, or yahoopersonals.com. Explain yourself clearly that all you are seeking, initially at least, are hunting buddies.

You could consider going hunting with an old, harmless guy like me. LOL

My daughter hunts, and so does my step daughter. And oddly enough, my son doesn't. I know numerous women that hunt. Two were homecoming queens in high school. I guarantee that you'll meet a guy who is thrilled that you hunt. But, that doesn't matter. You like to hunt- so hunt. May I offer you one bit of advice? Try wilderness camping. You'll love it.
