I actually asked him already over the phone so he's my date already. We text message everyday now and we're going up north for 4 days next week. We're going to this resort. Any ideas? Nothing grand but something sweet and meaningful I want him to remember how i asked him. We're both 16 btw.

Make a little treasure map of the resort you guys are at, and have little clues so he can find the next one. The last one should be a place to meet you, and you can have balloons, roses, whatever you want and ask him.
Another option is getting him a Christmas gift where you can hide a note asking him to prom with a bunch of hershey's kisses.
The last idea is making a sign with hersheys' kisses on cardboard saying prom?

If he is JUST a friend ask him if he wants to go "crash" the prom together. If you are interested in him, ask him in an e-mail or private way so as to not embarrass yourself or him.
