No. Homosexuality is in no way sinful. There is no legitimate defense of the anti-homosexual stances of Islam, Hinduism and Christianity (you may feel free to contradict the name of your religion being afore mentioned as anti-homosexual, but I'm not going to argue the point because any arguement the Christians, Muslims or Hindis can make in their defense is semantic in nature and therefore ultimately bull-hockey). So be gay, if that is your persuasion then don't fight it, that is one of the MOST unhealthy things you can do. I recommend you take some time and seriously evaluate your sexuality and your gender identity, those are things about you that define you on a fundamental level, pick your religion based on what you feel is right, if you realize you are gay, then don't be a Muslim, Christian or Hindu. Find your true self and don't hide it from anyone, that is the quickest path to true inner peace and happiness.

Sometimes psychology overlaps with theology.

First, let me identify what I think constitutes "sin." There is a huge element of volition. For example, murder is a sin as well as a crime, but we'll leave the legal out of this for the moment. If you *accidentally* kill someone, it's not a sin. There was no volition involved.

Now let's progress to your dreams. I don't think you have any control over your dreams. (This is the psychology part.) Any association with "right" or "wrong" in your dreams is contextual. Some people might think being gay is wrong, some think it's right. It's not germane to the question here.

It's what you do when you're awake that makes something a sin or not. In other words, you have to *believe* that homosexuality is a sin and then *take action* that would constitute a homosexual act.

Waking up and wanting something isn't a sin, it's a desire. If you follow up on that desire, then you are in the realm of sin but only if you believe your actions constitute a sin.

And that loops around to psychology again. Sin causes guilt. Sometimes shrinks try to downplay everything so that anything a human can do is "fine" and there is no guilt associated with anything. (Yes, I'm a bit broad with this particular brush.) Religious people also deal with guilt because sin is integral with religion.

And that takes us to the issue of homosexuality as "sin" or as "alternate, guiltless behavior." And that topic is a bit large for this venue.

I go with my original answer- "No."

Longer answer- Talk to a counselor and/or your religious person.

First, a dream does not make you gay. You will have to figure out your orientation for yourself. 2nd, there are no stupid questions, only stupid answers...
Whoever is telling you it is a sin is misinformed. Did Jesus himself say it was a sin? I have a problem with anyone that thumps their bible and says living gay is a sin. Huge amounts of the bible were written outside of Jesus's time on earth, enough to suggest that perhaps it is convoluted to some degree. There is a reason for everything, even being Gay, we have to trust that it's part of God's plan. He's perfect afterall, isn't he? I'm not taking a shot at God, but at hypocrisy. Do the 10 commandments say, "thou shall not kill," yet bible thumpers attack gay people much more fiercely than murderers or those who go to war. Hypocrisy is what it is.

Just because we can't understand it, doesn't mean it's a sin. What can be said is that living gay is not a pro-creation lifestyle. You will have to understand that if you choose the gay life-style, you may never hold a child in your arms that is of your own blood. So it is not a lifestyle without sacrifice.

I'm heterosexual, and religious to some degree, but not to such an extent that I'm hypocratic---that is not devout, that is stupidity, and God ain't stupid! The bible is not a tool of control, it is a gift of enlightenment, until people see that, it will always be misunderstood. God is the almighty, not us.

Now as for the DREAM: How can a person truly control what they think of or dream about while asleep ? NO that's not sinful !! & even the part of you "WISHING" it was real is just ONE step closer to "SIN" !! Now if you carry those feelings out is what will make it a sin or not !!. "It's not at all wise to first think of something that's without a doubt WrOnG in the eyes of our God & then to follow through with this thought is what will make it a sin !! uh'mm "Please be stronger than that misleading demon !! you do have the will & ability to do so !!Please do'nt be as weak & or sinful as Lot's wife!! when all she had to do was flee from the sinful SODOM&GOMORRAH !!& not look back !!. Her looking back just showed her willingness to disobey!! Or she had feelings for something or someone back there!?! Now how simple was that ?. ;-{}

Dreams are subconscious, you can't control them...so not your fault. The wishing it was real, well, that is something you may want to address. Are you gay? I'm not sure if "sin" is how I would label it. I'm still on the fence, as to if gay is wrong or not. Good luck either way, hope you are able to figure out, what it is you want to do.

No.
Crazy as it sounds, ancient monastic canons ruled on this subject, and determined that sexy dreams and nocturnal emissions were not sins. Wishing it was real was usually worthy of confession, but was not considered a sin in the ancient Church.

Yes, I would say it was. Sometimes I wish it was real.

The important thing is to know Jesus, who is a friend of sinners. The people who do not think that they are sinners are the one's who are really in danger. All Christians sin. But they are saved sinners IF they trust God.

Does it really matter? Seems you are prone to be gay, wishing it were real. Right or wrong isn't going to matter when you get the chance, now is it?
