My cat is a very loving cat. I found him on halloween night very hungry and just really scared so I brought him home. I figured he needed a really good home. I fed him a can of 9 lives cat food thats what i feed my outher cat that i have had for three years .He seemed to love it . I noticed that same night he had gas so I assumed it was just because he was a stray and having the food after not having any for a while upset his stomach . But that is not the case it is a month and a half later and he still has gas, oh and its awful its way worse than my husband it consumes the whole room. I just would love to snuggle him and pet him but he farts like right on me. I almost puked it smelt so bad does any one have an answer to this problem? He is a wonderful cat he just is a little stinker.

Change his food. If you can't buy one at the market that doesn't cause the gas, talk to your Vet. She/he may have some thoughts about parasites or dietary changes. Good luck!!!

How To Stop Passing Gas

Change food until you find something it does not pass gas with. It may even be that flavor.

If nothing stops it,. then your cat has a fast digestive system. There are humans with this gasy problem, some times they also have an iron stomach.

my cat did this too, and it turnedout he had a food allergy to one of the ingrediants in the food I was giving him.... oce I found the right food no more gas and it has been ten years now... Take him to te vet, they will help you find the right food. Also since he was an outdoor cat he may have worms or another intestianal parasite causing this so be sure and get him to the vet ASAP. Try switching to Friskies instead of 9lives and see if that helps until you can get him into the vet ( but do it soon, this could be a sign of sommething serious )

I could make a "using a cork as a plug" joke, but that's not very helpful now is it?

Have you tried taking him to the vet? He could have digestion problems or a food allergy.

Maybe try giving him a different type of food or perhaps proper food such as meats. It could even be an allergy to the preservatives used by the particular brand of cat food.

I hope that helps you out a bit. If not, just do as I did and buy a tank of goldfish. At least if they have wind you'll never know! lol

sometimes animals can't eat the same things that other animals eat. Just like in humans. Some humans maybe able to eat something and not get gas and someothers may eat the very same thing and get all kinds of gas. Have you tried to change his diet. Try that if you haven't already. If that doesn't work you can give animals pepto or anti gas meds as long as its in low doses. My boxer takes a allergy pill everyday.

LOL - Yup I have 8 cats and 3 of them will fart but I found out why ... Did you give her some different food lately? Maybe new treats? Maybe some tastes of your food? It has been our personal experience that the cheaper cat food will give our fur faces very strong smelling poo and 3 of them will get gassy. When we upgraded the food both situations went away. And I would suppose that if she was maybe a little gassy that being apprehensive around strange people would bring on release. Just like us and "butterflies" Try going one step up in your food choice and it should help.

Try slowly switching him to dry food. And lay off of any treats for awhile.

Also, know that cats are lactose intolerant. Though will be ok with milk products if they're given to them at an early age.

Our female cat had a stinky stage when we were moving back to PA, we stay ed with family for awhile and she ate all kinds of things including dog food. It was horrible :-x

Our male cat had a stinky issue a couple of weeks ago due to an excess of bacteria. t also made his stoll runny and made him throw up. The vet gave us an antibiotic to get rid of this. It worked.

OMG! How about a cork? just kidding! sounds like hes allergic to something you are feeding him, try cutting out some of the foods and see if that helps, then again, there is this stuff called Beeno, its for gas, its for humans so I wouldnt know how much to use on a cat, you could go by weight, or ask a vet.

I have the same problem. The only difference is that we use dry cat food. I am changing back to the kitten formula but I was concerned that it could be something more serious, like worms or something. How long should I wait after the change in food to see if there is something else wrong if the problem continues?
