Not the tv, but with a fan. It's called white noise. It's when you need something, a background noise, to help you fall asleep. There's nothing wrong with it as long as you're getting your sleep and it's not bothering your spouse if you have one.

I've slept with a tv on, but usually we fall asleep watching the tv, then move on to the fan in the bedroom to help us sleep. The fan also helps to control the temperatures in the room and keep it cool. A cool room is better to sleep in rather than a warmer room.

Coincidentally, my mom, and several of my friends, use fans or tvs to help them sleep as well.

One of my friends does that. I can't usually sleep with the radio/tv on but I have to have some kind of white noise going on in the background like an air conditioner.

perhaps there is no harm. You may get used to sleeping even in a noisy surrounding. There is an advantage too. You may recall some of the news or the dialogs which you have heard while asleep .Havent you felt it?

I do most of the time. I turn it off if I can't fall asleep. I hear you don't get as good of sleep with it on.
