Ha ha, sugar! Corn syrup is just a cheaper substitute for sugar, you could make it "syrupy" by blending it with water I suppose.

Liquid glucose (candy makers use it for nougats, etc.) is the only suitable substitute for corn syrup in your fudge recipe. Both are non-crystallizing when heated. Table sugar (sucrose) is a crystallizing sugar so a syrup made from it would not substitute. Fructose is a non-crystallizing sugar so I suppose a syrup made from it might work - the ratio would be about 6 parts sugar to 1 part water.

Your best bet is to get a recipe that doesn't use corn syrup.

Go to http://www.hersheys.com/recipes/recipes/detail.asp?id=5303. Their recipe for old fashioned fudge uses table sugar.

Also go to http://www.eaglebrand.com/ for their fudge recipe.

Their are dozens of recipes for fudge that does not use corn syrup on the web.

And don't feel bad about not getting the corn syrup. Even w/ a list in hand, if I don't have to make at least one return trip to the store I expect my project to fail. LOL

Making fudge is an exact science. You cannot use a substitute for corn syrup, but on a can of sweetened condensed milk, there is a recipe that doesn't require corn syrup.

Most pancake syrups would do for what your asking. Also simple syrup ( actual name ) which is 1 part sugar 1 part water boil and cool. For fudge I might increase the sugar to two parts.
Sweet...!!
