I have been receiving emails from a person who has called me a reprobate hypocrite and I will go to hell because I am a Catholic, why can't he accept who I am and what I believe in, isn't this my choice?

He said "You do not believe the bible. The bible goes against the catholic church.God says thou shalt not make unto thee any graven images. The catholics remove and break this commandment.God says not to call any man father on the earth.Jesus says do not pray in vain repetitions.1Timothy 4 says to abstain from meats and marriage are doctrines of devils. The catholic church is very anti bible. You are so wrong.the catholic church is a cult. You refuse to see the truth. The catholic cult and its bibles come from a corrupted manuscript with verses missing. You are in a false religion headed for hell". Where did he get his bible from?

Why can't people accept that I am a Catholic and proud to be one?

Because they are juvenile and get a rush insulting other people. Even if you are headed to Hell, (and I'm not saying you are) its not really anyone's business, now is it?

I suspect this person just believes what other people tell him. Because he doesn't understand his faith, he can't really defend it, so his only opinion is insulting and degrading anyone who disagrees with it. (I can't guess what documents this guy is working from, since the Protestant Bible has less books, not more, than the Catholic version.)

Hi,

I am so proud you are proud to be a Catholic. I am a young lady who happens to have grown up Catholic for the first sixteen years of her life then became Baptist and then a Seventh-day Adventist. As an adventist I get ridiculed because of the fact that people think that adventists are cults and so forth. My grandparents on my mom's side of the family were devout Catholics and loved God so very much. Yes, I do see that their Bible is different from other versions of the Bible but the 10 commandments are the same and I do believe that the Catholic faith is worshiping idols and graven images. I myself have a cross in my home that is not worshiped. I do believe that people do need to keep their mouths closed when it comes to religion or politics and leave their opinions to themselves. Even at the age of 37, though still young, even though I am not a Catholic anymore I still attend church to honor my grandparents who have died in 1997 and 2003 of illnesses that took both of them because God is in every religion. I walk in your shoes about being a Seventh-day Adventist and I do have to admit that I have lost one very important friendship because of this one person's beliefs. Seventh-day Adventist worship God: The Father, Son, and Holy Spirit or Holy Ghost, use Bible Scripture, and the adventists use different versions just so they can understand God's word, and I have three different versions of Bibles in my home - make that four because I have my grandparents old Catholic Bible with some added books to it. Catholics believe in the Bible...my grandfather used one to teach us kids faith and patience, and prayer. I even remember the meal prayer and the bed prayer.

It's hard to know exactly what's going on inside this person. I don't know what you're relationship is with this person but perhaps you pushed some of his buttons, made him uncomfortable, and now he's lashing out at you. Sometimes a persons faith, right or wrong, is very important to them and you may have said something that he realized cast doubt upon what he believes in, which caused anxiety, which he is now trying to subdue by lashing out at you.
Try to take comfort in the fact that nobody knows better than anyone else what the truth is. We all have a faith that works for us and we never know for sure if our faith is any better or more true than anyone elses. We just know it's good for us. Sometimes others are threatened by what we believe but we really don't have much control over this.

Ahh, the hypocrisy, of hypocrites! Isn't he/she creating, graven-images, by sending you the e-mail(letters are graven as well right?)

Maybe, he's/she's jealous, that you had first dibbs on Jesus. After all without Catholicism, the Protestant-movement wouldn't have had anything to protest against(via-Martin Luther).

Though, I don't understand much about the Catholic-Faith, it does seem to be more poetic in ways that have been lost, in the Protestant movement.

It is sad, that one has to feel he has to disclude people from the ideal of 'Love', rather then include them. If it gets worse, please report it to your e-mail company; either he/she is crying for help, or maliciously-misguided that could only result in tragedy, if not for the one in question, then for anyone else he/she may come in contact with.

That being said, I hope it doesn't taint your view of other Protestants; as I still believe good people exist, in any faith.

To intentionally misquote Victor Frankyl: Only Two faiths exist: decent faith, and indecent faith.

Original quote:"There are only two races: decent people and indecent people."

i am a fundamentalist Christian my best friend is a devout Catholic.
The only persons i have heard say such things as that are,
unfortunately, believers also (Jehovah Witnesses)
Please forgive them, it is the satins plan to divide and conquer.

Marry Christmas.

Edit;
The sins forgiven before salvation, are forgiven by the Shed Blood of Christ on the Cross. The unfoegive-ness and sin that we harbor and commit after salvation are the sins that will not be forgiven. If We do not forgive the one who sins against us.

All religions have their fundies - you have heard of the Inquisition, right? Catholics acting just like the jerk badgering you? BTW, the Catholic bible IS different from the KJV, or many of the other versions...though since no one knows if any of them are true at all, his focusing on that is absurd.

That's why I want nothing to do with religion and will battle, verbally, until my death to save people from the sickening influence of faith-based thinking. I don't chase people down about it (you'll get no e-mails from me unless they are responses) but I express myself unhesitantly in open forums.

Dear Susan.

Ignore it. these nameless idiots who call you names are simply that..idiots. your doing too good a job here at R&S in defence of His Church so be prepared to get many more emails filled with hateful words. Dont bother with replying to them as you will just waste you time an energy. Protestants who attack His Church have no real love for Jesus. Toughen up my dear sister in Christ only Jesus' opinion of you matters, no-one else.

we all get those kinds of emails. i answer such only once then i ignore the rest but when i need a laugh i may go back and actually read the rest and then i delete them. Be proud that you are persecuted for love of Him who is our Lord and Saviour...He warned us this would happen...let Him worry about these people...Jesus would not want us to stoop to their level

with love in Christ Jesus

I'm not in the same religion as you but I'm not here to tell you what to do only stay with the bible and read it pray God and take it easy for the rest. from Neigerose in Quebec Canada

Being Catholic is OK.
It's too bad that some people have been let into the USA that do not believe in our Constitution and Bill of Rights.
I don't think that there is any thing we can do except expose their intolerance as being a violation of our civil rights.

Being a former Roman Catholic myself, that person is correct. However, I would not have said what he said to you. I would have said it in a different way. He had no right telling you that you're going to hell - that's wrong. He's right about the RC church - it is anti-bible - I know that myself, being born and raised in that religion, but because Christ saved me and led me out of that religion, I now see that church for what it is: a cult. Nothing about that religion is biblical. They pray to Mary, who can save no one nor can she heal anyone or perform miracles as Christ did. She was a sinner like everyone else and the RC church praises and worships her like she's a 'god' herself. Confessing your sins to a priest - that's nothing more than confessing your sins to another sinner. The pope is an antichrist and puts himself on the same level as God, which is a form of blasphemy.

I could go on and on about the RC church, but again, that person went about saying all that to you in the wrong way. If you don't believe what I've said about the RC church, that is your choice. I can't save you or anyone - only God can do that. Only God has the power to open one's eyes to reveal the truth to them - I only give witness and testimony of God's word as God requires of His people to do - to spread the gospel. :D I only tell you what I know about that church, being as I was a Roman Catholic myself, but no longer, thank God. I'm not trying to force anything down your throat, despite what people may think. We born again Christians are so misunderstood by many people. Just because we spread the Gospel and share with others what we know about the bible, doesn't mean we're trying to cram it down people's throats - that's a big misunderstanding people have. Sad, but it's true.
