Multitudes of things. I find for me, put some hot water in a bowl, stick a towel over your head and put your head in the bowl and breathe in the vapor. Several oils, like peppermint, and eucylaptus (sp?). Spice food like spicy chips...

We also like the steam method. A hot steamy shower will help. Then just don't open up the bathroom. Sit in the steam while it dissipates. Also, spicy foods - like the horseradish idea. My husband loves the way Mulligatawny Stew makes his nose run and makes him sweat. Great if you have a cold. Here is the recipe from the book "Best Ever Chicken": 4 Tbsp butter or olive oil 2 large chicken joints (I use breasts) 1 onion, chopped 1 carrot, chopped 1 small purple turnip, cubed 1Tbsp curry powder (to taste) 4 whole cloves 6 black peppercorns, lightly crushed ¼ C lentils 3¾ C chicken stock ¼ C golden raisins (I use black) salt and pepper 1. Melt the butter or heat the oil in a large saucepan** and brown the chicken over brisk heat. Transfer the chicken onto a plate. 2. Add the onion, carrot and turnip to the pan and cook, stirring occasionally, until lightly colored. Stir in the curry powder, cloves and peppercorns and cook for 1-2 minutes. Add the lentils. 3. Pour in the stock and bring to a boil. Add the golden raisins and chicken and any juices from the plate. Cover and simmer gently for about 1¼ hours. 4. Remove the chicken from the pan and discard the skin and bones. Chop the flesh, return to the soup and reheat. Check and adjust the seasoning before serving the soup piping hot. NOTE: Be on the lookout for the whole cloves and remove them instead of eating them. They won’t hurt you, but if you bite into them they can be very distasteful. ** I use a cast iron Dutch oven for this soup. This soup sounded very interesting so I tried it. WOW. We don’t usually eat purple turnip, use whole cloves, or cook with raisins, but the combination delighted us all. So, it has become an easy family favorite. Mulligatawny (which means “pepper water”) was introduced into England in the late eighteenth century, by members of the army and colonial service returning home from India.
