My sailor is in San Diego but has a car back here in his home state.....can his car be shipped to him? Any suggestions? He is bored and needs his car to get around, without buying one out there......

just hit the local papers/google/yahoofor car shipping companies.

Depending on where it's coming form, it could easily be close to a grand to have it shipped.

Alternatively, either one of you could drive it..either him fly out and drive back, or your drive out and fly back.

Oh yeah, and If he is in A or C school.. better make sure he's authorized to have a POV first.

Do a google search for car shipping. A lot of times its cheaper to buy a plane ticket and drive the car back yourself though.

If your son is in San Diego, though, the trolley and bus system can get you pretty much anywhere in the city/county. I can't imagine being bored in San Diego.

No not really. The Only way i can see is if he got married in his hometown then was autorized a "ditty" move. (thats where all household goods are moved but that only happens usually during a pcs move. His only realistic alternative is do it yourself by either paying someone to ship it or dropping a week leave to fly out and drive back.

I artwork as a civilian for the Marines right here in Quantico, VA. Marines are at military bases, in simple terms like how marines are at military bases like Arberdeen Proving Grounds in MD. the actual question is: Why do you think of those places suck? Miramar, Beaufort Air Station are eye-catching places to be stationed at. Plus, any of those places are extra desirable than the single in Al Asad Iraq.

You can ship the car to him, but the Navy isn't going to pay for it. It costs around $500.
