How much would it cost to ship a package from Cyprus to the U.S.?

I am ordering some spray paint and they are charging me 34$ dollars because of the flammable contents. Does this price sound correct?
The package weighs less than 1 lb.
I live in California.

That is pretty expensive. A packet from Cyprus to the USA usually costs £6 CY (which is approximately $14.50) up to 500g by air mail, or £3.42 (approx $8) by surface mail.

However I don't know what the regulations on dangerous or inflammable items are. There may well be extra insurance to be paid, or it may have to go via a courier.
