someone told me that they have ,
but when i asked our Reverand here about it he said it couldn`t be any Christian Church because it wouldn`t be allowed as installing an ATM machine in a Church would be like inviting the money changers back into the Temple

They were planning it in the UK. I don't know if they actually did it, though.

I would not be surprised if some of the really big mega churches had them. So many people like to go out to eat afterwords (after a church service or function), it would be convenient to have one right there. I recall hearing one of the really big churches in Chicago has a McDonnalds on the premesis.

You do draw an interesting parallel with the money changers. I was going to discount it, but the more I think about it, the more I'm not so sure you are off there...

Yes it is true and I'll tell you who one of them is - Creflo Dollar - think that's his real name? Who knows but he is definitely one of those jack asses who make Jesus look like a greed monger. God does not need our money. Those money preachers have done so much to hurt the cause of Christ and to hinder every last bit of His teachings. If you should ever go into a church and see an ATM or a bookstore where you have to pay MORE than you would at B&N or Borders, run the other way. If you ever go to a church that says you need to show your last year's tax return or W-2 to become a member, run. If you ever go to a church and they spend 15 minutes telling you how you're robbing God if you don't put in 10% of what you have every time you go to church - RUN! The way I figure that one is this - I have $100 on Sunday morning and I put in $10. Sunday evening I have $90 and I put in $9 for another 10%. Wednesday evening I have $81 and I put in $8.10. That's $27.10 from $100, which is over 25% but hey, they see it how they see it. Be wise. Don't just go for whatever you hear. Investigate your answers for yourself. You'll be glad you did.

Now, don't start giving them ideas. I remember when I was in residential training in Cornwall as a young lad, and my weekly money allowance was the equivalent of about £10 by today's value, the only option we had on a cold winter Sunday evening was to go to the pub or to the church. The pub excluded us because we were only 15 years old. We would go to the church to see the 15 year old choir girls, having been told that entry was free and there was no collection during the service. However , we found out on leaving that we had to run the gauntlet of the collection plates at the exit point. One would be thrust in front of us from each side in the narrow exit, literally blocking our way out.

Well it doesn't surprise me. I rate most Christians as very gullible. If they knew the bible they would realise that tithes and offerings were Old covenant practice. There is NO mention in the new testement of the early church paying tithes and offerings. Instead they collected money from those who could afford it and distributed it to those who had nothing. This is simply not taught in churches because gullible people swallow everything the silver tongued minister tells them without checking the facts for themselves. Tithes and offering are used to built up the church as a business and pay the minister a big fat salary. It's about time the Church of Christ woke up to this.

Could be.
I have never seen a church with an ATM machine in it.

And your Reverand is wrong. It would not be anything like the money changers in the Temple.

hmmmmmm:

There are churches the size of large malls in the United States. Some of these churches have books stores, music stores and restaurants in them as well as ATM machines.

These stores are not in the sanctuary and not usually in the Narthex or Sanctuary lobby.

None of what is purchased in the stores is required for worship and usually these churches give away free Bibles so even those are not purchased, unless you want something different.

The money changers sold items REQUIRED for worship so there is a huge difference.

Even tithing is not required for worship.

How do ATM machines in the church lobby differ from TV Evangelists money raising marathons? Anything for a buck.

Actually that wouldn't be a bad idea. People who forgot to bring cash for an offering could run out and get some quick, people who needed to grab a taxi to get home in case their car dies or whatever could use an ATM right there, there are many uses someone who goes to a church - or anywhere! would have for a nearby ATM machine.

I have never seen a church with an ATM machine. The only reason I could see it making sense is if the church is also a private school. A lot of schools do have ATM machines.

If it is true, that is disgusting! So if you short for cash one week, you are pressured into giving or face the embarrassment of everyone knowing you can't go to the ATM because of insufficient funds. Talk about putting a squeeze on people. I definitely would not go to my church if they installed one.
