I was just wondering how you can tell if you have an actual anxiety disorder? I think I might have one because I am always thinking way into things, like all the bad that could happen in situations, and I also at random times will start to freak myself out by thinking to much? but i cant help it. does anyone know the answer?

oh and ive had several anxiety attacks- ive sort of learned to control them to a point as ive gotten older, but they come at random times, and ive found myself thinking and fearing death and my loved ones dying lately. is that anxiety or depression, because im overall a very happy person.

I'd suggest you see a medical professional. You might also want to read:

Well as much as it sounds as though you do get anxious I'm not sure if it can be diagnosed as an Anxiety Disorder. Rather than take advive from people that don't have the credentials in diagnosing you, you should see a therapist. Disorders are only diagnosed as an actual disorder when it hinders your life and has such a great impact on your life that you cannot function. Anyways hope everything works out.

I am the same way. I think too much into things and I worry a lot too. I have been diagnosed with anxiety by my doctor. He has me on a medicine called Buspar. It helps treat anxiety disorders. I have noticed that the medicine has helped me. Also, if I am in a really bad mood or having too many problems, I also take an herbal remedy called Nerve Tonic. That helps a lot during my really stressful times.

talk to a counsellor. i have social anxiety (a moderate case but still) and i also suffer from panic attacks. if you've ever had one of those then you will know the true meaning of pure terror and anixiety. it's good to talk to a counsellor, maybe if you attemtp to destress (is that even a word? if it isn't whatevr) your ilfe and that might help a LOT!

GREAT answer, Manda!

Talk to your doctor about your symptoms. He or she will then determine if you should be referred to a psychiatrist or not. You go from there.

Self diagnosis is never a good idea. Nor is yahoo-answers diagnosis.

See a professional, and get a real diagnosis from someone who really knows.

possibly something linked to social phobia? i have it and i feel very self conscious at times and my mind will wander off onto thinking really random and weird things, its quite annoying and hard to focus sometimes. i think that's called ADD but dont quote me on it.
