There are multiple factors in alcoholism, and I don´t think the research is complete, but you DEFINITELY have issues.
These are normally contributing factors:
One or both parents already admitted as alcoholics.
Saying things like: "whenever it´s available, I drink it."
and: "I'm only 16 and I drink and I do get drunk."
Having your first drinks before the age of 21. The younger you begin, the more likely you will develop a problem.
Honey, you're already well on your way to a problem, and your best bet would be to begin controlling it RIGHT NOW.
Please check into al anon and al a teen. do it now. and get away from the peers that are allowing you to get into trouble.

It can. But I have plenty of alcohics in my family, and I'm 36 years old and I've never had a problem. I have a drink to ring in the New Years and that's it. Actually, the bottle of wine I bought to ring it in is at the house and still hasn't been fully drank. And that was 6 months ago.

it can run in the family but it's better not to know and feel that way because if you think a certain way you may become that person..
try not to drink too much and have control at all times.
& be careful alcohol at parties... lead to real trouble, girl
So yeah anyway watch what you put into that little mouth of yours and just be safe
happy holidays :)

Yeah you have to be careful because you have the alchoholic gene and that means you can never be just a normal social drinker. The younger you start drinking the quicker you might have a problem - don't think you are there yet but yes, you are pre-disposed unfortunately so be careful.

How bad is it- can you drink something else or avoid certain situations or keep your involvement there controlled-
my two are not drinkers their father and his family including the grandmother on their Dad's side has been alchys- she passsed on 15 years ago- but I would like to see you try to find a means of control even if it means that you avoid the alcholic sessions!

I'm part Cherokee and Irish, and there is a TENDENCY for alcoholism in my family. That doesn't mean we're cursed!
Just drink responsible, and you'll be fine. My siblings and I are cognoscente of the possibility, and are not alcoholics.

It can...sad but true. You are young, ask yourself do you want to be like your parents? You have the right to make choices in your life, and be strong enough to say Im not going to drink. You have your whole life ahead of you, dont think that because of my parents I too will drink...You are at a crossroad, and the choice is yours. Good luck, and I pray you make the right choices for your life.
