Wow...people make some silly suggestions...sigh...
The best thing I can suggest is get a basic strategy chart and memorize it. Of course the house has an advantage, but playing mathematically "perfect" strategy ensures you're giving them the smallest advantage you can (about 2% or so).
Don't listen to some of these other suggestions, they are just plain wrong. Sitting at a table with "bad" players does NOT in any way affect your chances of winning. Their "bad" plays can win you as many hands as they cost you, of course most people only remember they times an odd play cost them a hand.
Also there's no point in changing your bet amounts arbitrarily...there's no such thing as a "hot" or "cold" table, it's all in hindsight. If you win 5 hands in a row, that doesn't increase your odds of winning the next hand AT ALL. In fact, I always laugh when people think the table is "hot" and raise their bets, because in many cases your odds of winning go down (assuming there's no shuffle), because typically a "winning streak" is the result of large amounts of high cards coming out in a short period of time, leaving less in the deck. Although if you aren't counting cards or trying to track previous hands in any way (and there's no reason you should be, just have fun!) then you can pretty much treat each hand as an independent trial (of course it technically isn't, which is why bj is beatable, in theory...in practice, good luck trying to pull anything in a casino in 2007).
Just memorize basic strategy, decide on a maximum you're willing to lose, try not to let other player's actions bother you (it doesn't matter in the long run), and HAVE FUN!

If you are not familiar with the game don't play it (2) Set your loss limit for the day and never exceed it.(3) When you get ahead a reasonable amount, quit for the day (4) find the one which offers the cheapest buffet. In that way, you will have a great time , no stress or strain.

Just give David W the points right now. That's one of the best answers I've read here in a long time.
Googie gives some good advice also.

tip for playing blackjack in vegas: DON'T PLAY BLACKJACK IN VEGAS. they seriously have most of those games rigged so the house ALWAYS wins. and if the house loses, it's always a small, negligible amount.
if you still want to play, it's somewhat like 21. the dealer gives you cards, and you try to make 21 with them.
