I'm on my third week of one of my pill packs. I'm going on vacation soon and I was planning on skipping my placebo pills and just starting a new pack, to try and skip my period.
The thing is, I've got my period right now, even though I'm not really "supposed" to because I'm taking the white pills with hormones in them right now.
Normally I'm afraid about skipping periods because I don't want spotting or anything, but I was thinking, if I have my period now, could that mean maybe there's less chance of me spotting when I skip my placebo pills next week, since all the blood's leaving now?

Since you have your period now, just stop taking the hormone pills and go straight to your placebos. You should be able to control it from there and just let your body have a couple days to finish the period before opening the new pack. I don't think you would have problems with that.

I'm assuming this is either your first time taking the pill, or it's been a really long time since you've been on them. The thing with birth control pills or other forms of hormonal birth control is it takes your body a while to adjust to the new levels of hormones. Your body can freak out and do the exact opposite of what you'd like for the first few months. I wouldn't skip the placebo week at all. Your body still need the time to adjust. The week off will help your body adjust. Just bring some supplies with you on your vacation. You may skip your regular period anyway considering you have it now. But I'd rather be safe than sorry. I keep supplies in my purse at all times. I'm better than any boy scout at being prepared.

No, I don't think it will make a difference. The bleeding you have right now is called breakthrough bleeding. It happens sometimes when the pills are too strong for you and they cause the lining of your uterus to be too weak and to slough off for no good reason. I had to stop taking birth control pills because they made me spot ALL the time, whether I was taking the placebo pills or not!! You might have the same problem.

manipulating your pills so to try and skip your period is VERY dangerous!! you also can get VERY pregnant playing with these pills...they range in hormone dosage... if you want to not have periods get on the birthcontrol pills that give you 4 periods a YEAR. thats all. 4. playing with your pills can lead to blood clots and other serious problems. think about that.

well, your in the same boat as me. whether we like it or not we have our period now. so taking the new pack would just be like normal even if it is a week early. pills can't control nature. I'd say continue taking your previous pills. more then likely you will have a shorter period then normal.

I skipped my periods for over a year. The spotting should go away, but if it doesnt, let your gyn know, you may need different pills.

see your doctor ---- if you are having bleeding now maybe you are on the "wrong" pill and need a different mix of hormones
