depends which way it's headed. If I'm trying to empty it, it's half empty. Trying to fill it, it's half full.
If someone were to ask me "how much is in this cup?" and I'm neither interested in filling nor emptying, I suppose I'd say "half full"

actually, I believe even filled with a fluid half way, it is full because the glass has 1/2 of the volume remaining filled with air.
I gave a shrink the fits when she asked me this very question. She said i could only choose on or the other. She got really upset.
