That is so great that you want to do that!
My first question would be - what concerns you?
What are you interested in, concerned about or would like to see change?? Or maybe your job is in an industry related to some charitable cause - grocery store = food bank, clothing = homeless, banking or accounting/finance = poverty, industrial company = environmental cleanup... you get the idea...
I could tell you about thousands of organizations - but you need to determine first what you think is a worthy cause... everyone is different.
Next, do you want your money to go locally, nationally, regionally, world-wide? Do you want your money to help someone directly - like donating to pay for a meal or toys for homeless children? Or do you want to help fund a cause - like advocating for more park land, fewer greenhouse gases, save the whales?
Personally I like to think local and personal - so we donate to kids in need, homeless shelters, soup kitchens and food banks. But that's me.
Check out Charity Village for thousands of local, national and international organizations of all sizes: http://www.charityvillage.com/applicant/volunteer.asp
I must apologize, I didn't check to see where you were from - Points of Light Foundation and the Hands on Network are great for Americans www.pointsoflight.org
Good luck and have fun!

I think that the older prove,n and well established organization's,s are the best to donate to. The Salvation Army, the Goodwill, the United Way and the March of Dime,s are the ones i trust. The Muscular Dystrophy Association served my daughter well while she was alive so i give to them as well.

Try toys for tots.....I believe the Marines handle this job and are making sure all toys passed out this year are safe and lead free. The Marines are a great group as it would appear if they're not fighting for their country they're being very socially aware.

How about animal shelters. Animals bring joy to everyone, why not bring joy to them.
