I am a frequent cast member at a Theater called 'NarroWay Productions' I am considering audtioning for singing. I have been in every show they have done for 4 years. Only Acting and Dancing though. I have decided that I want to audition for singing roles. I dont really have any experiance like voice lessons or anything but alot of people who are in the 'ensemble'(the people that sing in shows' say I sing well. I really dont want to make a fool of myself by auditioning and sounding like a dying pig.

Any tips or tricks I could use for when auditioning.

Just be nice to your voice.
Drink only water (room temp is best, though it may not be the tastiest); avoid cold and cough medicines beforehand; if you're going to sing to practice, don't strain your voice - quit while you're still sounding good. On the day of the audition, make sure your voice is warmed up but not overworked so that you don't crack but still have a clear sound.

I've never heard anyone that sounded like a dying pig, if that's any consolation. :) I'm sure you'll do great.

Good luck!

Oh yeah...you're a dancer, so you probably know these, but I'll throw them in for good measure: be confident, don't fidget, wear something that makes you feel good.

truthfully paintings on respiration routines. do not tension your voice, in case you're having a confusing time hitting a notice then relax slightly and doubtless heat up extra. Do are truly good vocal heat up in the previous your audition (scales, sirens, respiration). attempt to not enable your self get too fearful, considering the fact which you will demanding up and not attain your finished ability. As for examining track, you're able to have the potential to locate plenty on line. in case you're at school you will have the potential to invite your instructor for help, reckoning on length i assume. Time signatures are the fractions before everything of track, the final extensive type tells you what notice gets the beat, the backside extensive type tells you procedures many beats in a level. So in 4/4 time there are 4 quarter notes in each and each degree. that's a fantastically regular define, yet with a bit of luck it is going to assist you out slightly.

Choose material you are familiar with. Don't suffer paralysis by analysis. If you know the material, beingnervous about whether you can pull it off or not will just tighten your throat. Sing like you're singing in the shower. Have fun!
