Things are really tight right now since I bought the new Lincoln Towncar. So, I put a post dated check in the collection plate. People watch me when the plate comes by so I don't want to just pass it on without putting something in. So, I put a post dated check for 2009 in the plate. Hopefully, I will have a little extra money in the bank by then. I'm good for it. I really am.

Why even bother? If you don't want to look bad, think about what the people will think when they pull out a post-dated check for 2009 with your name and address printed on it!!!
Simply donate more when you are able! Stop thinking what people will think about you.
Plus, what if you don't have the money in the bank when the date comes due?! Do you want to BOUNCE a check to God?

Besides, it's not how much money you give or not, it's all about the heart.
Seriously, if you're concerned about people seeing or not, use an envelope. I've done this for years when I put cash in the plate.

well i suppose He would hold it since He owns it anyway...if the money isnt there and bounces the pastor will be upset what are you going to say? LOL...on the serious side i would never put money in the collection plate to appease people that is watching..i dont worry about that it is God i want to please...not people or for show

God doesn't need your money. He wants your heart. Think about it - most of the time - where your money is, so is your heart.
Rich people are some of the most miserable.
There are some people in the world who sorely do need money though if you want to be charitable.
If you dont... its ok. You won't be kicked out of your Church.
Giving money to your Church is optional.
