Father K exluded. I am sure that he is telling the truth about being a priest because he knows scripture and gives polite answers. I don't see him insulting those who disagree with him.
As for (most) of the rest of these professional preachers, after reading their rude posts and listening to the names that they call people who disagree with them; I am starting to believe that they are "posing" about what their profession is. The way that they communicate is sure not the work of the Holy Spirit in their lives. The majority of them can't even quote a Scripture.

Is it just me or has anyone else suspected that they are bearing false witness as to what their profession is? I would like to hear from others what they think - one way or another.

This is not meant as an insult against any particular denomination. It is questioning the people who are supposedly preaching the word of God.

I would add to this, that many who are simply posing as Christians in general, are not the genuine article.

It is inevitable, that as Christians we will offend others by simply stating our beliefs but to be involved in name calling or using condecending remarks and various other personal attacks, should not be happening...

On my Yahoo Bio post,I describe myself as such:"If you know me,then you are aware of my beliefs. If one talks enough, he or she will eventually expose the inner person that "claims to be",what they believe and confess.
You tell me,who I am"

My point is that, out of their own mouths, the imposters will eventually expose themselves and it will evident to both believers as well as non-believers...(((Brother Kait)))...This guy is the real deal.

A church needing a Pastor received only one application.
They were not able to pay much and this pastor agreed to preach for free.Upon hearing that, they were ready to accept him. They had been a long time without a Minister.

The church secretary continued to read this application.
The applicant here wants us to be aware of the fact that he has been in jail a lot.On several occasions he has incited a riot in several towns. Many of these town have told him to never come back again. There have been many instances where people have gotten so upset with him that fights have broken out and, Whoa came a voice from one of the board members. We can't accept this mans application, why he sounds like a trouble maker to me.What will the people of our fair city say?It was then that the secretary informed the board that this application is signed by the Apostle Paul.

I hope this was kind, and scriptural enough for you.

What would all of you think of John the Baptist: "Ye serpents, ye generation of vipers, how can ye escape the damnation of hell"? Matthew 23:33.

And Lets not leave the Lord out of this, "And Jesus went into the temple of God, and cast out all them that sold and bought in the temple, and overthrew the tables of the moneychangers, and the seats of them that sold doves,
And said unto them, It is written, My house shall be called the house of prayer; but ye have made it a den of thieves.

The Martyr Stephen:Acts 7:51 "Ye stiffnecked and uncircumcised in heart and ears, ye do always resist the Holy Ghost: as your fathers did, so do ye.
Acts 7:52 Which of the prophets have not your fathers persecuted? and they have slain them which shewed before of the coming of the Just One; of whom ye have been now the betrayers and murderers:
Acts 7:53 Who have received the law by the disposition of angels".

Now I know what is meant by the words "itching ears" 2 Timothy 4:3c

Hello Kate!
I'm afraid I'm going to have to say something rather cynical here, though I don't want to.
Of course your suspicion could be correct, and probably is in some cases.
But I'm sorry to say it's equally possible they could be what they claim. Not every pastor/priest has the Holy Spirit. Truth is, people enter the ministry for all kinds of reasons, and not all of them for the right ones. There are of course plenty who do, and you can tell right away who they are. There's nothing better than a minister who has the Holy Spirit, whatever denomination he's in, and there's nothing worse than a minister who doesn't.

Kait, i have got to where it is so hard to go to r&s anymore, that i generally only answer a question unless it is a contact.

There does seem to be a lack of respect out here. after posting the question i did about the Christian bashing, i became & i hope i am more sensitive to others. I hope any one who i may have offended will accept my sincere apologies.

as for pastors & so on here, i dont know. I do know that you'll know them by their love . They will also have the word & some have it in their 360. The only one i know myself is Pastor Art. that he's a pastor. i have all kinds of contacts. NOT all Christians. IT 's okay. I love them all.

Especially some are really really close.

Interesting posting !!. Now I'd also like to just remind that Many do indeed claim to be righteous !?! When in reality SOME are just ~!! / False Prophets~!!. "Look out that nobody misleads you" 5.For many will come on the basis of my name, saying'I am the Christ, and will mislead many.<6.> You are going to hear of wars & reports of wars:see that you are not terrified. - Quoted from the scriptures ACCORDING TO >MATTHEW<... Furthermore.. I'm no priest !! nor ordained in any way, shape or fashion !! Yet & still I will do what I can !! Just as the Christ commanded his prophets!! To spread the good news of God's heavenly kingdom !! & will try to direct many to stay on the right path !!. For the path leading off into distruction is wide & spacious!! & many are taking that road !?! But the road leading to righteousness is narrow!. Now those false prophets are the ones that's boldly ,blindly& stupidly going down that WrOnG path !! Please do'nt follow !! ~!!!`&` (G/L)~!!! `'R"r,r`r.r'.-

Dear kait,

Many claim to know God, but few do.

There is an estimated 70 percent in the United States who claim to be Christian. Yet, if that were the case, this nation would be getting better, not worse.

So if you have that many making claim to being believers, is it so hard to believe there are a large amount of preachers deceiving these lost souls?

Jesus said to beware of wolves in sheep's clothing. There are many who believe with the fruit of the lips, but their hearts are far from God.

Let me assure you, I am a preacher of the Gospel and have tried to respond kindly and charitably as I respond. This hasn't and sadly probably won't always be true as there are some people who misunderstand, some who don't want to listen and are looking for a way to avoid the issue, and still more who don't want a response, but only want to argue or pose some inane, if not stupid, questions. If you have a serious question, that's one thing; if you only want to argue, then I don't have the time for it and refuse to cast pearls before swine (Jesus' own words--you can look it up).

Granted, there are some people who claim to speak for God and have no idea how to give a reasoned response or how to use the Word of God correctly. I agree with you in that regard. My concern is that there are wolves in sheep's clothing who want to make genuine believers, and God's speakers, look bad or worse.

I agree about committing false witness against thy neighbor. It is another example of Satan taking what is supposed to be considered a holy position and placing a wolf there to mislead others in a skunky odor of hypocrisy.

I think of going into ministry but I would rather the Lord call me into it by His divine calling. It is too high of a position to be taken lightly or to be self proclaimed. Jesus picked fisherman and other tradesman to be His Disciples. If God wants to chose a Carpenter like myself then God knows where I am.

well i could sermise that same conjecter about anyone on here at some point

But calling oneself a preist or pastor isnt any different then calling ones self a christain or answering question you think you have knowledge of yet do not...........

i myself try not to speak evil and dont call names, but i do speak the TRUTH , and i DO NOT water it down...
for neither did Jesus to appease the crowd.........

and not all that say Lord Lord is of God
and not everyone who thinks they have the answer has The answer............

it is Spiritually discerned and is of No private interpretation
one has to weigh the TRUTH for themselves

and i look at it this way
if its what the BIBLE says
I KNOW its of GOD
if its what someones opinion is...it doesnt hold much clout with me.............
Been around to long, been through to much, see far to much and have gone through alot that i might learn...and even now am in need of more learning and will never stop doing so...
He still Amazes me.........everyday..and HIS WISDOM , I continue to see !!!

Who knows. Perhaps some of them feel confident enough to pose it as their profession with the anonymity of this online forum. On the other hand, just because it's their profession, doesn't mean they have to be nice nor good at it. Look at the Catholic Priests scandals.....or even Fred Phelps as Robin pointed out...

Well, other than Father K I haven't really run across that many claiming to be "pastors" or "priests", but then, I don't really read profiles unless I am thinking of connecting to the person.

I have run across several who claim to be Christians, but if you watch their posts, it becomes clear they are trolls who are trying to make Christians look bad. Then I think there are an awful lot of immature Christians on here that just don't stop to think about how their responses are representing Christ to the world.
