So you are saying that the Allies in World War 2 were stupid for fighting against Hitler? After all they were fighting for what they believed in. You are saying that England, Canada, USA, etc. should have resisted the Urge to fight against a mad man like Hitler. Man, That's crazy. There are times when it is completely legitimate to fight.

If that's the case then why did the God Yahweh force the original Israelites lead by Moses to establish an army and kill for Him while they lived in the desert for forty years. Are you calling Moses a coward and not a hero.

The heroes are the ones who praise and pray for deliverance with full faith that God's will is being done in spite of their personal plight, who live a consistent Christian testimony, who give selflessly to their neighbors, who love without reason and in spite of being hated. You are right -- yes, you are.
Romans 13 teaches submission to governmental authorities, and I would put that under Jesus' instruction to give to Caesar what is Caesar's and to God what is God's. Meaning, personal resistance to sinful behavior, like refusing to bow before a man calling himself 'god', but not leading a mass revolt to overthrow the government or causing a war to expand claim or territory.
Good luck with this post :-).

I think this is a common notion in society as a whole, not just the Christian community. I'm a teacher and I would venture to say that just about every one of my kids would believe this, and they come from many many backgrounds.

first of all, i think this is a common HUMAN claim, and does not have anything exclusively to do with being a christian. second, I agree that the phrase gets thrown around a lot. I dont think it necessarily makes you coward. This is tricky, because while I do think it is important to stick to your beleifs and principles, people still need to check their assumptions. there's a difference between defending your beleifs, and attacking other people in their name.

thank you for listing many that were not true Christians. A Christian stands for what we believe in, which is peace, Love ,kindness , goodness, self control, patience, and joy. If someone does not emanate this from their character then they are not the proper example of Jesus Christ. Jesus was persecuted for being who He was and if we follow Him then we are to expect similar mocking and ridicule which is what happens in the world and in R&S forum by many non believers. We set our life against what is acceptable by the world's standards. Darkness rages against what is of God.
Our faith is what makes us strong, we have a reason for our hope and conviction. Jesus is inside our hearts and gives us the conviction we need to stand against the things of this world.

I Understand where you are coming from and the context thereof,
Joshua Fought, as did David.
The Bible say's in Ecc 3:3 A time to kill, and a time to heal; a time to break down, and a time to build up;
and in : Ecc 3:8 A time to love, and a time to hate; a time of war, and a time of peace.
The problem is, Knowing when that Time is.

I agree with you. I will not fight about what I believe in. I will discuss and bring forward my point, however I will not continue casting pearls where they are not wanted. Also I largely believe in the "Preach the Gospel at all times and iff necessary use words.". We don't need to fight for it, Jesus has already won, we should be quiet and listen to how God wants us to deal with each situation and I am very confident it will not come down to fisty cuffs, name calling or berating.

Interesting...I believe that its the people that are in defense mode that are the greater. I also do not agree with the forcing of beliefs down others throats, no matter who it is or what the subject is. We should be open to new ideas. Or at least research and know what we agrue for and against.

I guess you have a right to deny the responsibility for all adult Christian males to fight for what is right. If you are a sissy man or even a homosexual, I guess that's understandable. Otherwise, if you plan on getting to heaven, you better start fighting buddy.
