I think you mean "Should the Christians apologise to the Jews" for causing so many, many murders of Jewish men, women and children during those times. Yes? Is that what you mean?

If this is what you mean, then I think that if the Christian Church (meaning the Catholic Church at that time) had it in them to apologise they would never have had the lack of humanity to even be able to do those things in the first place. To Jews or to anyone else they tortured, raped, murdered or forcibly converted to Christianity.

And the Lutherans were no better when they came along, same old same old. See Martin Luther's "The Jews and Their Lies" where he recommends burning Jewish children alive in their synagogues. And this was done for many, many centuries through thousands of Pogroms against the Jews.

So it would be nice if the Church would apologise to the Jews AND to everyone else it victimized during the Inquisition, yes. Will it happen? No of course not.

To Singingbluefae: I don't know if the Asker is Jewish or not, but I am, and you are reported. Grow up.

If it could change things, I would apologize. In a way I guess I do, because I try to speak against anti-Semitism and show respect for the Jewish people, who gave us Jesus. As for those who want an apology for the Jews killing Jesus, why don't we ask the Italians to apologize for their ancestors the Romans nailing Him to the cross? We can't change the past, but we must make sure the past doesn't repeat itself.

Who ever said that those that participated in the inquisition were Christians?

"Christendom" at that point in history was not following the teachings of the Bible.

Jews have been a target, and continue to be a target of hate mongers. Anyone that hates the Jews doesn't know God. If they did, they would be thankful for the Jews.

It was through through the Jews that God gave us the Bible, both Old and New Testaments. It was through Jewish lineage that the Savior came.

Let me ask you a question? Have you apologized to God?

By Christian do you mean protestant Catholic or Orthodox? I believe many protestants were affected by the inquisition. I think it si appropriate for the leaders of the appropriate churches to acknowledge past mistakes and appologize appropraitely

I am not sure it is helpful. It's like should all white people in America appologize to all Black people for the past... it's the wrong people... in many ways its not helpful

no...If an individual never did anything wrong, they should not have to appologize.

If people were held accountable for the actions of thier ancestors, that would violate the constitution. All men are born equal.

No. Each person is an individual. I will be judged for the decisions and actions I have made. I am not responsible for what people have done in the past.

No, people should only apologize when they personally do something to someone else. All the Inquistition meanies are long dead, they should be sorry.

No, it was a long time ago. As long as we've learned from our mistakes, it's all water under the bridge.

Nope. None of us were alive back then, and no one owes an apology for one's ancestors' actions.
