An atheist cares about religion, for the same reason a parent cares about a pedophile.

We're scared of god. Not because he exists, but because he is all over our laws.

EDIT: lol, you think you struck a nerve with asking this. LOL. sigh..

Click on the link, you'll see that this question has been asked over 11,000 times before. Your question isn't even in that list, I was too lazy to do the same search with the word "athiest" in it.

I keep seeing the word atheist in questions and I am drawn to them 'cause I don't get much chance to discuss my lack of belief. In fact I have never even met another atheist so I am curious about their opinions. Now why did you ask that question? Just to ruffle feathers? Or somewhere deep inside do you doubt your own belief?

I have never doubted my lack of belief in your, or any of the many, many religious belief systems.

None of them make even a shred of sense, and most contradict what can plainly be seen in the world around us.

I am here because of biology, my parents were sexual creatures, as were theirs before them and so on. That is why we are all, to pass our genes to the next generation of our species. This is true of all living things, not just those which can ponder the universe and feel the need to imagine some sort of "god" to explain when we don't have the answers to our questions.

To ask and answer questions on Religion and Spirituality. I wasn't aware that you needed to be religious and/or spiritual to answer questions in this category. Also this section is incredibly entertaining.

I also answer in Men's Health, but I'm not a man, and Pregnancy, but I'm not pregnant, go figure.

Some smart-**** asks this every day and think they're being clever. It's getting rather boring having to explain the simple answer.

Do I ruffle your feathers?

If Atheists weren't here, there would be no one to answer all the questions addressed to Atheists.

Consider for a moment the mind of an Atheist... we tend to seek knowledge. Just as we may go to the Philosophy category, or Psychology, or Science, we come here.

And the drinking games are fun. :)

I am not an Atheist, but I due consider myself agnostic. I think I know the answer to your question though. It is a belief in disbelief. I would imagine true atheists just find theology in all its illustrious forms to be absurd. They see it as fiction. Have you ever read any Greek mythology; Zeus and Aphrodite etc.? They are just as likely to an atheist as Jesus, Buddha, and Mohammad, or any other dogmatic figure.

Whoa, why are the Atheists here? What does that have to do with free will for all of God's children, or the right to their existence. Poor Atheist, now you have lost your free will that only religious people have. I guess the next thing the religious ones should do is ship all of you to Israel so you can be wiped off of the map since they also do not deserve to exist. Dear, God! Just who are these people's god, not mine. I'm not an atheist but I can understand why one would be, if I had been asked that HATE FULL, and I mean FULL OF HATE question. How much worse is this crap going to get. Ignorance personified!

Yes I do have some doubt about existence and life.(I still think religion is bs no matter what)

I am here for fun. What you believe shapes you reality, so i find religion very interesting.

and yet another person with an "original" idea. this forum isnt for people who are religious or spiritual, but for people who have questions or answers about this topic. if you are so sure about your faith then why are you here asking questions? unless deep down you doubt your own belief.

No, you didn't strike a nerve. You repeated a question that gets asked at least once a day which is probably why you got smart aleck remarks.
