A very big reason people come to us to have tattoos done in certain locations is to cover a scar.

It can be done very successfully and, even in the case of larger scars, dramatically improve the appearance of the scar. The action of the needles tend to soften and flatten scar tissue.

By the way, a reputable tattoo artist will NEVER tattoo over a mole. NEVER. Over the years moles can change in shape and color and be an indicator of a cancer formation. If tattooed, these changes will likely not be apparent. Moles can be removed and then the area can be tattooed.

If the scar is from something really recent then an artist may not want to do it or would just have you wait. I know a guy you have this huge narley scar and my buddy tattooed a zipper over the entire thing and it looks awesome. It just depends, talk to your tattoo artist. Good Luck!

I have a pretty large scar on my back from a big mole being removed and my artist tattooed right over it...hurt like heck but you cant see the scar anymore. He also tattooed over a mole. Bascially it would be up to the artist if they are able to do it or not. Good luck!!

they tattoo over scars all the time. its definetly do-able. but its also depends on the type of scar. if it a realy thick puffy scar then you might have a problem.

This is why tattoo artists are considered professionals. It's up to their judgement.
