The vet cut off the top of his femur.
The dog is up for adoption.
Does anyone know whether he'll be okay or not?

The operation (FHO) involves removing the head of the femur--not the whole leg! Dogs and cats do great with this surgery, and he should make a complete recovery. Most of the time you won't even notice a limp.

He'll be fine, my aunt had a dog for many years that got around on 3 legs, didn't phase her one bit. She lived to a ripe old age too.

It is amazing how fast dogs can bounce back from something like that. He will be handicapped but if they are confident enough to adopt it out then I think he will be fine.

Kimbee- The dog was hit by a car. She said nothing about it being hip dysplasia. I'm not so sure Doc did a FHO.

I've seen several 3 legged dogs & they got around fine.

Hope it finds a good home.

If your a real dog lover, go ahead, he might be unstable due to the missing femur, but if you want a dog becuase you just want one and to be so called "cool" ehhhhhh im a little uneasy about that
